Yup, WJC is on again.  I watched the Canada/Germany game earlier.  The Canadians were off to a bit of a rocky start but started hustling towards the end of the first.  USA is up 2-0 on the Czechs so far.  It looks like they've got the game in hand.

If Canada loses again this year, I wonder if they'll ban all European players from the CHL, not just goalies.

They may just put stricter limits on the import rule.

I guess this comment strikes me as odd because it's curling season.  There have been bonspiels on every week since October.  There will be until the end of March.  I recognize that the next curling broadcast you're likely to see is from Sochi, but if you're really interested, you can watch your heart out on curlingTV.

I'd throw my hammer for her, if you know what I mean.
I'd draw to her button, if you know what I mean.
I'd hurry her hard, if you know what I mean.

Are you suggesting that you'd throw an in-turn takeout at her rock deep in the house?  In that case, I think that I do.

I think what he means is he would like to runback her guard for a double takeout at the top of the four foot.

Pope Larry II: How did this turn into a curling thread?

I was feeling bad about that.  Expecially when we should be focussed on DAY 1 OF THE BEST HOCKEY TOURNAMENT ON THE PLANET!

I'm going to sit back, enjoy, and imagine Sam Reinhart and Connor McDavid in Flames jerseys in a couple of years.

/Screw you, USA

Calgary needs goaltending help too, lest they morph into the Oilers.

Calgary will be fine in the goaltending department.  We always are.  Besides, we don't need great goaltending yet.  For the next two years, we want to lose very close games in entertaining fashion, and be in excellent draft position.

The problem with the Oilers isn't just goaltending- that talented group of young guys has learned how to lose and lose badly, and appears to be very comfortable with it.  The only way I've ever seen how to solve that problem is to shake it up to wake it up.  And their history of nepotistic coaching and management hires means that they hang on far too long to guys that should have been sent packing long ago (Lowe, McTavish, I'm looking at you).

But I hope they don't change I thing.  I could watch Edmonton lose all day long, it never gets old.

Mantha looks hot- hatty against Ze Germans, although to be fair, Deutsch defense was nonexistent.

I thought the book on him was funny..."He's a bit one-dimensional ...but if your one dimension is scoring... I guess that's not such a bad thing."

And why oh why would you link to this shiatty blog rather than the actual farking network that carries this tournament every year?

I hope Canada's boys team acts better than their girls team while the US is housing them.
