B. Meh, so?

All that needed to be said about him in the boobies.

Heh, FTFA: From Oslo, Merry Christmas season to my Scandinavian friends. "Enjoyed" a meal of lutefisk, reindeer, & lefse.

Were I served lutefisk I think it'd have to say I "enjoyed" it as well in order to be as gracious as possible...

Reindeer might actually be tasty.

Reindeer sausage is really good. And is is why it's called caribou in the lower 48. You guys get all sentimental like santa's critters are the only reindeer in the world.

That guy is a massive asshole but this seems pretty innocuous.

I have Norwegian family, and lutefisk is commonly on the meal at Christmas.  I would charitably refer to it as an acquired taste.  I don't begrudge King the air quotes on that.

Caribou and lefse are both delicious, though.

Yeah this is probably the least offensive thing Steve King has ever done. Heck eating reindeer in front of vegans while wearing the entrails would be the least offensive thing he's ever done. Otherwise I don't think that "eating the food your hosts serve you" is exactly an issue.

I think the only place you can get breakfast in Alaska without reindeer sausage on the menu is McDonald's.

What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than eating reindeer? I mean, I can't think of anything more festive.

funny?  yes.

wrong? nah (it was a cultural food)

/let's give him a pass for this one.  There's so many better things to be concerned about.

I eat reindeer like once a week, is one of the most healthy and sustainable things to feed yourself with in Norway.  Seriously, you can buy it at any supermarket like you would beef, and it is tasty too.

Amen.  This is like enjoying bacon and having a friend who has a pet pig: the two are not mutually exclusive. People can form sentimental bonds with animals we traditionally use for food sources.

That said, making it a point to eat Reindeer on a specific day out of the year associated with beloved animals of that breed, then telling as many people as possible about it is a colossal dick move.  It's one step away from waiting outside the premier of some Disney/Pixar film with anthropomorphized fish/ducks/cows/whatever while slowly gutting, cleaning, and cooking one of said animals.

OMG I loved Gwennies. Only went there a couple times but it was really good.

And the Alaska breakfast club.

And the Sunday brunch at the sourdough mining company...Off.the.chain. My god how I miss those corn fritters.

Dude, not even the Bizarre Foods guy (Andrew Zimmern) can deal with lutefisk.

That said, reindeer sounds damn good. I'd be all over that as an alternative to turkey.

It's not that I have a problem with eating caribou/reindeer (I've eaten it a bunch of times), it's just a bad day to eat it.  It's like eating rabbit on Easter.

Which I've done.

Found it to be funny.  :0
