just the idea of calling itself a news network is funny enough without the quote.

Television networks base their success solely on their profit margins.  That's why 24 hour news channels are just pro wrestling without the tights.

Second silliest assertion of the year,

First: "we look like geniuses" (Michele Bachmann, describing the post-shutdown status of the Tea Party)

Did CNN tell you that?

CNN is to new what TLC is to learning. You'd be a better parent giving your child heroin than sitting them in front of the television these days.

CNN is now reporting that a second great year has hit the network.

Luckily the Boston PD already has the first great year in custody.

CNN is a sad pathetic remnant of a once-relevant news organization.  It's almost like watching a relative get Alzheimer's.

If you watch it as a comedy its really pretty funny. Fail tag would work on this one too.

Yeah this is more accurate. Funny like when Grandpa forgets who you are.

No, they did have a good year. There was an unprecedented number of "crises", manufactured and otherwise, that got them into the homes of lots of folks. They may have been piss poor in their reporting, accuracy, etc, but it was a good year for a news network. Any news network.

If you call this guy Jeff Zuckercorn, it makes so much more sense.

Y'all are missing the context here. The man said CNN had a really good year. He never claimed it was this year.

Can anyone remember the last time CNN wasn't a joke?

1989. They covered the Tienanmen Square Massacre Happy Student Funtime Day respectably and as competently as any network could on a nation as closed as China was at the time.

Didn't they hire another person this year who doesn't even have anything to do with news...  a guy who goes around different places in the world and eats food.    Maybe they realize the aren't good at news.

January 17-18/1991

After that it was downhill  until they hired Zucker.  Then it was straight off the cliff.

Hey they won an award recently so it wasn't all bad.  Of course the award was my own "Sid and Nancy" award given annually to the network with the most appalling choice of Christmas Eve programming.  They won for their exquisitely timed Atlanta Child Murder Special last night which included an interview with convicted serial child killer, Wayne Williams.  Congratulations CNN!

CNN will soon be thrown into the ash heap of history.
When you try so hard to get 'breaking' news that you just start making shiat up you don't last too long in the news business.
MSNBC will follow suit in the not too distant future.

I dunno, the 'Making shiat up' approach seems to work rather well for Fox.

drfa but according to others i've read that's the new deal with CNN. like TWC they are going to produce and air stuff that has on reason to be on TV but is relatively cheap to produce. and can be rerun 1000 times. they will become CWN cable whatever network.
