Winterlight: dccc: lifeboat: Winterlight: E_Henry_Thripshaws_Disease: best xmas movie, evar,
Melinda Dillon was so hot

She was much hotter in Close Encounters.

Huh.  I never knew that was her.  Cool.

Yes, but she was hottest in Slap Shot, or at least she was most naked in Slap Shot.

Like a pair of pencil erasers.

You'll poke your eye out kid.

Dee Snarl: LeroyBourne: Dee Snarl: I think my comment in the previous thread was stillborn, so I'll paraphrase. Watched it for the second time last night, suspicions confirmed: LAME. Corny, cloying, cutesy. Worst of all, not funny.

You didn't laugh when his bundled up lil bro fell over and couldn't get up?

No. That was stupid. Pretty much all the jokes are unbearably obvious. The whole enterprise makes Erma Bombeck look edgy. Also, I'm 43, and have Attention Surplus Disorder. But y'all keep on liking what I don't like. I'm just sayin....

/and no, I don't worship edginess in my entertainment
//but for the love of god

I'm 44, and it's my opinion that you should go stick you head in a pig.

AliasSally: Had it on this morning. All I want to know is how the pack of dogs magically come in the front door, run past dad to the kitchen and then magically open the back door to get out?! It's been driving me crazy all day.

It was in the script.

Just the dad is worth it. McGavin was perfect all the way down to when he turns his head and rubs his chin when the bartering begins for the tree.

craigdamage: People with short attention spans won't like it. period.

Those who grew up playing PC games HALO. W.OW....etc....
....and watching Michael Bay type films will no way get it.

Those of us who had childhoods where we went outside more and actually EXPERIENCED REAL LIFE will greatly appreciate this wonderful film. Myself and others like me respond to films that show genuine warmth and atmosphere and have a balanced sense of nostalgia. sorry....no CGI. No obnoxious fast edits and pointless action sequences with zero character development. This film makes me think of my dad and my grandparents. (did you hear that? ....this film makes me THINK!)

cheers,
Merry Christmas

Anyone of any age can tell you're a dipdh*t after posting drivel like that.
