Our only political party has two right wings, one called Republican, the other Democrat

That's the kind of lame-ass thinking that got George W Bush into the White House.

The Nader-ites are as much to blame as the conservatives for the deficit, the war in Iraq, the tarnishing of our nations reputation wouldwide, the erosion of our civil liberties, and the religious fundamentalism creeping into out govt.

Right, I suppose all you clowns are 'rugged individualists' eh?

Every single western democracy is 'socialist' to varying degrees, we are all interdependent on each other for our economies, our infrastructure, etc.

Are you Yanks still living in some sort of Wild-West theme park fantasyland that no longer exists or something? Galt-World, just a few more miles out west?

Where did you think all that tax money was going? (hint: socialism! oh-my-gawd! The communist insurgence has arrived!). Heheh.

And yes, I'm sure BushCo and his fundy stormtrooper Asscroft are salivating over the chance to overturn Roe v Wade and return the U.S. to the good old days of Bible-based nonsense. Someone should inform the Christers that the world isn't really flat.

VultureTX: What over population? The US produces twice as much food as we consume, and we all know Big Fatass America already consumes more than we need. The government buys the excess, stores it, then bags a lot of it to export as food aid to third world countries or targets of natural disasters. California alone produces enough food for the entire world based on NEEDS.

Abortion isn't a need. It's a want.
Big Giganto Football burrito isn't a need. It's a want.

Well that's just fine and dandy, I'll vote for Bush then. I for one don't support a woman's right to have an abortion. I call it that, because "they" call it "the right to choose" to make it sound like something good. Choice is good! Choice is Fun!, Choice is freedom. "If I choose not to decide I still have made a choice". I would only support this act of barbarism if the woman's life was in immanent danger, or the child was early term and it was known it would be born with severe debilitating birth defects.

Most of these Assclowns who are pro-Choice are anti-death penalty. Why can't we just call it a really late term abortion?

Oh well enough if this rant...

Does congress represent Americans?

kethares, I hope you're not suggesting that a congress full of lawyers is a bad thing. Are you?

Who DO you want to propose, debate, and create laws for us? Janitors?

Opertunity doensn't knock on everyone's door quite as much as it has apparently yours. You should be more humble, anything can happen, you could get sick for example, and you may be poor someday too.

No opportunity knocks on very few doors. You have to make your own opportunities.

I'll also tell you that my father was laid off from the same steel mill when they automated. We moved halfway across the country for him to start a new job. He didn't like it (75 hours weeks expected) and quit to start his own business. There were 3 or 4 years in the '70's when we got a 2.00 present for Christmas, had to drink milk that was half cut with powdered milk to make it stretch. We couldn't afford bread so my mother made her own. Things got better slowly but my parents made those choices (peanut butter instead of hamburger) to be sure that we still got our education and proper upbringing.

I've seen both sides and work my ass off to make sure my daughter doesn't have to.

The504: I lived there for a couple of years, only, but they were some fantastic years. I'd move back, but I fear owning a house there, with the flooding and being below sea level and all.

The Southern Dandy, I agree, in theory.

However, in practice they tend to be the most self serving of the bunch, right after grave-site landlords.

Most of these assclowns who are pro-life are also pro-death penalty. Why not just call it pre-emptive execution?

Seriously, are there any people out there who are pro-life who are NOT hyper-religious assclowns?

Well, I don't think that I've been inside a church since my father's funeral. I believe life starts at conception. But I don't push my views on others. That's they're decision to make.

You know, as a democrat, it's articles like this that make my skin crawl, because I know that it will spawn a number of new Nader supporters that will lose the election again for the Dems. Granted, the Democratic party has shifted to be more centrist, but look at the actual candidates stances on the issues. Vouchers, NCLB, Abortion, gay marriage, first strike policy, this "dont ask, dont tell" garbage, the gun show loophole, national health care, and quite obviously the Gulf War are all ways the left still differs fairly significantly from the right. To say NOTHING of Supreme Court Justices.

For me I wouldn't even consider a third party candidate without some sort of a runoff election system in place. For those of you that think its dumb for people to vote "the lesser of two evils", I think it is much more idiotic to kill any hope of having some semblance of a liberal in place because you are too stubborn to compromise. Bush WAS different from Gore, as these four years have proven (vouchers, "Iraqi Freedom", NMD, fiscal irresponsibility, Medicare Bill).

What would you call the welfare mother with 10 kids?

Horny?

2004-01-26 12:58:09 PM
I've seen both sides and work my ass off to make sure my daughter doesn't have to.

I don't understand why. You could apply for food stamps, use them for food, and have the cashier ring your beer and smokes up seperately.

Being a victim is the "in" thing these days, so nobody behind you in line will care that you're paying for beer, and they're paying for your food.

Try not to be so responcible. You're making us victims look bad.

Sven Jolly: I am rock-solid Catholic, but my stance on Abortion has nothing to do with Religion whatsoever. Abortion violates the most basic tenants of the foundation of the United States -- the right to LIFE, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness. The Supreme Court was dreadfully wrong in the Dread Scott case and they were dreadfully wrong in the Roe v Wade case.

Besides, hyper-religious assclowns founded this country, wrote the constitution and fought to defend it against those trying to end it.

Usually, one has to do something bad to deserve execution. Since being a crimp in someone's social life is just plain wrong, those babies deserve it.

Nader voters aren't going to win it for you this time, republicans. Sorry. You're going to have to do it on your own.

Interesting.
I assumed you were a Christian, by your stance on abortion, the "mary" reference, and your username.
Yet, you do not "turn the other cheek" and you circumvent "thou shall not kill."

Depends on if you mean the Spanish Explorers, the Puritan Sailors, or the drunken Finnish (I mean Viking) sailors who wandered over here and started this nation.

The constitution was not written by them, however.

Does anyone here actually believe Roe v Wade will ever maket it back to the Supreme Court? Besides the rantings of paranoid, partisan politicians, is there even a current court case moving through the courts to change it?

This is how politicians use smoke and mirrors to divide the voting population. Why not debate a topic currently on the agenda or note the valid points of the article.

American politicians will not represent the views of their populace until campaign finance reform evens the playing field for all candidates.

I find it interesting that people dont see the U.S. as a mixed economy.

There are independent industries, like capitalism.
There are social programs and subsidised industry (amtrak, et al) like socialism.
and there are inheritance laws like feudalism.

"does anyone here actually believe Roe v Wade will ever maket it back to the Supreme Court? Besides the rantings of paranoid, partisan politicians, is there even a current court case moving through the courts to change it?"

No, this can't be confused, Bush will take away a woman's right to choose. He will apoint 2 justices who will overturn Roe vs. Wade, and Ashcroft is ready and waiting to enforce it.

There is no question about this.

setaanbomb: The extension of Human Rights to developing fetuses is problematic, but at least somewhat rational. It's only a serious problem with combined with a hyper-religous, sexually-repressive Traditionalist dogma, as seen in today's Republican party.

What's your opinion of Bush's "Abstinance-based 'education'"? Anyone who wants to reduce abortions should be working like hell to promote responsible, honest sex-ed (and there's more to that than "Keep It Zipped.")

Probably in a few weeks. They pay a lot more than the plasma center, and I've got to cough up the dues for next month's Satan's Club membership.

But don't wait for me.. there are already plenty of available unwanted kids living from home to home wondering what they did wrong.
