Awesome! So glad to see sports no longer tolerating such language. There is no reason to try to emasculate a guy for poor performance at sports.

You think coaches only get paid during the season?

I bet his wife thinks he's a cocksucker for losing those two weeks of pay right as Christmas bills come in.

And when that happens in NJ, the coach gets immediately canned, along with anyone who the NJ witch hunt media wants to get rid of.

Not that there is anything wrong with being a cocksucker.

Hey, go take a couple weeks off over the holidays. Some people are mad, so, we can't pay you for the time off. When you get back, stop by my office. I gotta make you watch some bullshiat DVD. While its on, we'll have some scotch and talk about returning players and your wants/needs as far as recruiting goes for the 14' season.

That was a very nice apology he issued. In fact, I think it should become the boilerplate apology all sports figures issue when the offense is this or something similar.

Sincerity is the most important aspect of it, however. If you can fake that, you've got it made.

More like hey that stunt just cost you your mortgage payment next month. This is permanently noted in your personnel file. Do it again and you're fired.

That's how it works when you have a real job. You'll figure that out one day.

Arkanaut: What's a Lupfer?

It's a (presumably south) German word for "heaver" or "lifter", related to "Luft" (air). In sports, it's a move commonly known as "lob" (tennis, soccer), trying to get the balls behind the other one's head.

The offense happened during their bowl game, and that's the last game of the season for a team, so... Also, coaching in college is a year round job, and they're all in the middle of recruiting right now.

It's cute that you think CSU is doing this because they want to and not because they are being forced to.

Don't get me wrong, I think the punishment should be worse, or at least take place during the season. 2 weeks off right after the season ends is a joke.

What else would they do? Tell him he's suspended in August? That's silly. It was an immediate response by administration, it hit him in the pocketbook, and it keeps him on the bench at the start of CSU's recruiting run. That's a significant punishment.

While I'm at it, the only thing that's cute is how little thought you're putting into this. Athletic Directors for schools this size got their jobs because they take it seriously. A coach who yells slurs at players on the sidelines is an embarrassment. Don't kid yourself. They didn't feel forced to act.

Do you think that's the first time he said something to an opposing player, or the first time he got caught by the media? Do you think the AD believes nobody ever taunts opposing players (especially in Football)?

The week of Christmas and New Years isn't prime recruiting season, either. Maybe a couple letters get mailed out, but, that's about it. In a couple weeks, teams will get back at it, but not right now. Perfect time to suspend somebody. It's like the DD thing. Suspend somebody when there is nothing going on. You get to save face and lose nothing.

It was unprofessional for a coach to do it, and it's safe to assume missing a single paycheck is gonna sting a little, but, he will be just fine.

I don't know if that's the first time. Probably not, but I don't form opinions based on stabs in the dark. The school has draw the line, and any future action will result in termination. That's pretty f*cking serious.

Recruiting starts the moment the season ends. These coaches don't take a few weeks off to rest up. Most of them are in their offices making calls and looking at high school game tape the day after. A two week delay for their defensive line is a big deal.

By and large, the effeminate gay man is a media reinforced stereotype which has become accepted as the norm in the gay community and a young gay teen will feel peer pressure to conform to that stereotype. It's less of an issue with non-stereotypical real life media personalities open acknowledging their sexuality - a young person coming out isn't limited now to Cameron from Modern Family but can look to Stephen Fry, John Barrowman, Anderson Cooper or NPH instead.

/I'm not saying there aren't naturally effeminate gay men or that there's anything wrong being an effeminate man.
