From TFA: "I think you need to go back, go back and read the Constitution," she added. "This is the United States and you cannot abridge freedom of speech."

Apparently the Freedom From Religion Foundation is a part of the US Government now.

And then there's this also from TFA: "I think if you actually read the text of the atheist display it's actually more hate speech," stated Kelly.

Let's put that to the test, shall we?

From TFDisplay: "We celebrate the birth of the Unconquered Sun - the TRUE reason for the season. As Americans, let us also honor the birth of our Bill of Rights, which reminds us there can be no freedom OF religion, without having freedom FROM religion in government."

Oh wow. So hateful. You can just feel the vitriol pouring off of it! Those people should be locked up not just for displaying such hate in public, but for the thoughtcrime of having even considered such hateful ideas.

So, "covering up" is violating free speech?

Interesting concept.

I beg to disagree.  They're helping, through their awful words and deeds, to increase the number of teenagers and young adults that question whether they've been duped into all this Christian horsesh*t throughout their childhood.

Thanks,  Christians.  Jesus would be so proud if he were here today.  Keep it up!

As I'm informed by people with GEDs in constitutional law, the first amendment applies to protecting you from ridicule and enforces it's will upon private corporations.

The Christians don't care about free speech or even Christ they care about maintaining the status quo of bigotry and oppression of minorities. Read some of Jerry Falwell's sermons from the around the time of Brown vs. Board of Education ruling. Those sermons read almost exactly like the crap today about gay marriage. Sad there are so many bigots among us especially when Jesus said we are supposed to love our neighbors :(

So, did the Christians put a banner up at the Athiest event, or the Athiests put up a banner at a Christian event? Was it an all emcompassing event? The story lacks all the opposing views.

That's because you weren't around for the great Quack War of 1856, when the United States seized their marshlands and forced them to walk the Trail of Greenpoop all the way to Oklahoma.

I just wish that people expressing their freedom of expression would know the difference between its and it's (it is).

2013-12-24 08:30:00 PM
The Freedom From Religion Foundation created the "A is for Atheists" sign that states: "We celebrate the birth of the Unconquered Sun - the TRUE reason for the season. As Americans, let us also honor the birth of our Bill of Rights, which reminds us there can be no freedom OF religion, without having freedom FROM religion in government."

"I think if you actually read the text of the atheist display it's actually more hate speech," stated Kelly. "It's really not adding anything to the Christmas spirit, it's really not even telling anybody who they really are or what they believe or what they want for society. They're just saying they don't like Christianity."

Dafuq? That asshole just proved the argument of the Freedom from Religion Foundation.

The sad part is, I'm convinced that the sort of "Christian" who protests messages like this really doesn't know how to tell love from hate, acceptance from exclusion, or tolerance from bigotry. Seriously. Especially the first one. Of course they think that sign is hateful. Of course they do. Also, telling people they're going to hell is supposedly a loving act. Yeah, no.

Freedom of religion means freedom for their religion. Same as "free speech" is code for praying and proselytizing in public while silencing dissenting views. We surely have realized this by now.

Oh, and Happy Christmas.

The one consequence of free speech is the people who oppose you also have that right. Sometimes, it turns into a war of attrition, sometimes it is just arguing. Guerrilla tactics are often used when free speech goes into a public forum.

When the only atheist argument is rudely attacking Christians during Christmas, trying to hijack their holiday and throwing it in their face, yea, I think that qualifies as acting like assholes.

From the actual article, which I recommend reading because you probably haven't:

"We celebrate the birth of the Unconquered Sun - the TRUE reason for the season. As Americans, let us also honor the birth of our Bill of Rights, which reminds us there can be no freedom OF religion, without having freedom FROM religion in government."

So, now, having explained the obvious, how about you explain how that wasn't immediately obvious to you. "Prove your work" as they say. Explain how you were too stupid to see that for yourself, because I'd like to know.
