Aexia: grumpfuff: What, exactly, makes Politifact so bad?

They desperately want to be taken seriously as non-partisan which leads to things like proclaiming a statement they had previously rated as being "half-true" as being the "Lie of the Year". Not to mention, the Medicare "Lie of the Year" two years ago which was an actual statement of truth.

Yeah, it fell prey to "working the ref" like so many would-be fact-checkers.

Completely ignoring all the lies of quality where Politifact would rate similar lies with dissimilar scales ("fair and balanced" anyone?) they straight-up get shiat wrong.  They have straight-up gotten things wrong and stuck to their guns because fark the truth, they've gotta support the Republican agenda or they'll get hate mail.

Are they the worst?  No.  People overstate it the same as when people say EA is "the Worst company of the year."

But it betrayed its principles, it degraded from a fresh breath of honest objectivity to another corrupted, manipulated mouthpiece of the Conservative Mainstream Media and it continues to wear the mask of its former self.  Feelings of betrayal and feelings of disappointment lead to a more zealous denunciation.

Speaking of zeal and my previous joke about Overzealous staffers, I think that is actually what has happened here.  CC got his buddy a job and was basically leaving it at that when said buddy decided to repay the kindness by helping out with CC's campaigns.  He's buying up domain names (to squat on 'em) and picking Jersey-boy fights with Christie's enemies because he's loyal and dumb.

Of course this means Chris Christie has a history of appointing idiots to positions of power and letting them make dumb, childish moves, so it is a fairly petty distinction.

And if it somehow proved to be true that there was some kind of traffic study going on, if I were in Fort Lee I'd be equally pissed that Christie and a few of his lackeys at the Port Authority decided to fark up my life for several days just to see what would happen.

I mean, there were huge problems -- ambulances being delayed, school buses not making it to school on time, and so on. Political payback or useless bullshiat traffic study, either way, it's really bad.

I've said this before about Politifact and I will say it again, Politifact has zero credibility and needs to go away.

The lanes are for those entering from the town's main east-west road, which could be anyone traveling from SE Bergen County or anyone who bailed out of Route 4 or the Palisades Parkway from other parts of Bergen County.

Seems illogical to do that and actually sounds like BS since it wouldn't "send a message" to anyone. If it's true, just seems like a random thing to do, for no reason.

Also Politifact is terrible these days.

MFAWG: He seriously closed a freeway as payback?

Looking like...  Yes.  A buddy of his appointed to the Commission closed the lanes without telling anyone else in the organization that he was going to do it and there's no evidence that ANY sort of traffic study was carried out.
