Don't thank Obama, he just signed the bill.  All thanks go to the gop and the tea party.  I'm sure ryan and cruz are happy about it.

Is this where we lump each and every federal employee into the same box as the fat woman at the post office?

So, basically, federal workers are now one percenters?

I am also a federal employee (with a "professional degree").  I work in regulation and I can tell you for sure - if I were to quit and go to work for a company that I currently regulate, I could easily double my salary.  Easily.  Maybe triple.  I could buy a lot of toys.  Everyone in my office is basically in the same boat.  The reason I stay is primarily because I believe in my work.  I also like the job security and the retirement benefits.    Retirement would be better if I went to private industry.  My current salary allows me to live a good life so doubling my salary isn't worth it to me.   For whatever this is worth, I am not rich - I drive a 9 year old car on its way to 12-15 years (hopefully) before I get a new one.  Our parking lot has a lot of honda accords, minivans, toyota camrys etc...  In other words - middle class.

My point to those who think we make too much for whatever reason, what do you want from your government?  Do you really want to create an environment where the best/brightest new workers will come nowhere near a government job?  Air traffic controllers, FDA, CDC, USDA, EPA, NIH etc. filled with private industry rejects?  And what would that type of environment look like?  Industry that has more power than the government.

\steps off of soap box
\\walks away with moral satisfaction for speaking my mind
\\\would still hang out on Fark with or without government job

Nutsac_Jim: Ok,,. so just to be sure.. You agree people did get paid their money, which was the subject of the post... and you
bring in a totally unrelated subject of the sequester cuts and argue that?

and I am the one that is wrong?

Here's how that conversation went:

MBooda: Yay! Oh fark you so very much for giving back some of what you stole from us during the furloughs!

Nutsac_Jim: hehehe.. lookie. Someone thinks federal workers lost money in the furlough.

Serious Black: I have several LESs that confirm I did lose money because of the summer furloughs.

BeerLion: hehehe.. lookie. Someone who doesn't know the difference between the furlough and the government shutdown but still makes an ignorant snarky comment.

Nutsac_Jim: Inform us how government workers lost money. Thanks.

somedude210: While you are correct that the money lost during the shutdown was repaid, that furloughs caused by the Sequester cuts were not. For some of us it was as high as 14 days over the course of the summer that were unpaid, for others it was as little as 6 days. Be it 6 or 14, taking a hit like that still does a lot of damage to your savings.

So fark you, you know nothing

So if you're trying to say that we were never talking about the furloughs, you are in fact completely wrong.

Nutsac_Jim: If you have kids, and the shutdown was painful, one should really think long and hard if you really love your kids.

Wow, you really are an asshole.

soup sandwich: PanicMan: RminusQ: Some people can look at that chart and that CBO paper and say "federal workers are paid too much!" I look at it and wonder why private sector workers are getting screwed so hard on benefits.

For those saying federal workers are paid too much, If I was a cynical asshole I'd respond with "Why do you hate the troops?  Freedom isn't free!"

its not just that fed workers are overpaid, its also that they underwork...except that the work hey do also hurts the economy by excess regulation and misdirected resource allocation

I'm going to let you start again. I suggest going back to that you wrote and removing the words and phrases you don't understand. It will be a shorter post, but it will be less utterly farking vapid. That drek sounded like Sarah Palin having a Tourette's attack.

Not sure if you can read.  But just in case...

Based on your post, then your linked rebuttal, I can safely say you understand NOTHING about the original chart, and therefore do not understand why several people think it's bullshiat.

Chart : Federal employees make quite a bit more than private sector.
Study:  Federal employees make quite a bit more than private sector.
Fark Commentariate:  Your a big dumby, they no the same.

oukewldave: Is this where I should feel bad for government workers who get a million days off a year and amazing benefits?

I didn't get any time off for the holidays last year. Of course, I was in Kabul, but who cares about silly details like that?
