Brandon Lee literally died because the prop department was cutting the budget on squibs. I don't remember anyone having a problem with using his footage.

They need to just turn this into a Walking Dead episode instead.  That way he could play the Paul Walker walker.

You don't scrap a film or TV show for that matter just because an actor has died.  It's not corpse raping either to proceed with footage already in hand.  Some would consider it honorable to even give a "in loving memory" type credit as well.

That said, exploiting it as "Paul Walkers last film!" or promoting the previous films DVD as a collector edition are all reprehensible.

Thing is, now that the film timelines should be back in line to Tokyo could be a very easy to write his death into the movie as well as create an opening for Chaning Tatum to slide into the token white boy side kick.

It's wrong to throw Heath Ledger in this mix with Dark Knight, just based on the fact that all the principal photography was done when he died.  It still would've been a huge success if he hadn't died; Christopher Nolan knows what he's doing.

If you want to use Heath Ledger, you need to talk about the movie he was shooting when he died, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.  We can see how well his death did to put butts in seats with THAT film.

He most certainly got an advance on the film and his poor choices could have put the studio at a significant loss if they couldn't produce this film.

The alternative would be to sue his estate for some or all of that money. If there are royalties in his contract, they will get a payday from this.

Exploit my corpse for the benefit of my beneficiaries by any means you can figure out.

Heath Ledger's untimely demise demonstrated that dead celebrities are cash cows. It will be this way from here on out.
