Here's what I don't understand, of all of the Christian Martyrs throughout history, why didn't he just pick one to literally express what he meant?

Or was he too busy trying to deflect the racist comments Phil Robertson said later in the interview to make any sense.

Everyone who brings the First Amendment up in this whole Duck Dynasty fiasco clearly has no understanding of it.

Millenials have compassion for others and minorities are generally not confused by the misleading rhetoric. The Republican party must make a genuine shift if they want to continue to exist. I don't even give a shiat about this stupid reality-show idiot, but Republicans rallying around him are just damaging their brand even further.

There are millions of Americans looking to give their vote to someone more conservative than mainstream Democrats, but the Republicans are literally proud of their ignorance of the constitution. Veering further right is not going to solve the problem.

I'm looking forward to 15-20 years down the road when these willful bigots start to die off and get replaced with someone a little more towards the center.

I have to assume that the black community is purposely ignoring the shiatfest at this point and trying their best to stay out of it. Otherwise, how would you explain why the anti-gay comments that the Duck Dynasty guy made have been aired on every media outlet while the pro-Jim Crow segregation ones have been suspiciously under-reported? If Al and Jesse had wanted to jump into this mess, they would've done so already.

This is the "pro-Jim Crow segregation" comment that has hardly been under reported.

I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field .... They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people'-not a word! ... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.

I think you meant bigoted hypocritical people who came here to escape religious persecution while they were also hating on other groups and religions.  Get real, had the pilgrims been involved in writing the Constitution there would be no such things as freedom of speech and religion.

How does this work, exactly? If grooming and some money disqualify these guys from being "real rednecks", do my full set of teeth and my gay marriage mean I'm not really a hillbilly, anymore? I can't camp up my accent for comedic effect?
While we're at it, can I just mince about and lisp occasionally or do I have to be the stereotype all of the time before I can self identify as gay?

Truthfully I don't blame them to taking the money.  They're not old money, only recently got successful, and the show just multiplies their success.  I don't watch it, but it's an interesting story, albeit one that shows a family basically reinventing themselves for publicity.  But yeah, these folks are now famous and being looked at under a microscope, and they're in desperate need of handlers.  Otherwise you got 4 or 5 Joe the Plumbers on TV doing nothing but making your demographic look REALLY bad.

Take a lesson from the boat owners in Deadliest Catch.  They tend to keep their mouths shut unless it's time to renew contracts.  Course that could just be A&E not keeping a tight enough leash on their stars.  That might change now.

I still giggle every time I think about Robertson saying that during Jim Crow black people were happier and not singing the Blues.. Tee hee!

No one has anything against real Christians. What People hate are racist, bigoted judgmental people who lable themselves Christians and think all that praying and false representation of what Jesus espoused will save themselves.

TFA: The comparison between Parks and Robertson is based on the recent persecution of Christians, and not in skin color or literal comparison.

Dude, people aren't upset with you because you're comparing a white guy to Rosa Parks.  They're upset with you because the treatment of Christians in this country right now is a wholly inaccurate comparison to the treatment black people during the time of Rosa Parks.   THAT is why it was a dumb remark - because the "persecution" you say exists for Christians really doesn't.
