Pregnant women can do whatever they want, whenever they want, however they want. Consequences be damned!

That might have been the best use of a study in an article I've seen in years.  They didn't jump to some outrageous conclusion, and they cautioned about what they did learn vs. what they didn't.  I have nothing to complain about, my day is ruined.

It's still OK for them to eat Schweddy Balls, though.  Right?

CSB: At walmart, I was in the checkout line with a woman who was in end-stage terminal pregnancy and pushing a race-car shopping buggy with two screaming toddlers.  Under her breath, I heard her whisper "that's it! I am never ever going to say no when your father asks me to swallow!"

As I told every frickin' OB/GYN who, while I was pregnant, handed me a medicine-ball-sized pill and informed me it was my daily prenatal vitamin:  "Honey, if I could swallow something THAT big, I wouldn't have gotten knocked up!"

I know, but a story about fools wanting to preserve half of a flawed genetic pattern and subjecting it to stresses with unknown effects, for their own vanity is just so depressing.

According to HTML5, it's a moderately light teal-ish: almost cyan, really, but there's a little more blue than green. It's equivalent to #00C0D0, or very close to CSS3's "DarkTurquoise".

You just would have peed them all out and been charged $50 for each vitamin.

The amount of food I was told to eat during my pregnancies was insane. If I ate like that, I never would have gotten pregnant either. No one would have been able to get close enough.

What the medical and "nutrition" industry actually knows about human nutrition, beyond "give me money", is rather "not at all useful" at this point.

If only there were a nearby source of protein, approximately 22 grams yet only 7 calories, that she could injest multiple times on a daily basis.

I am allergic to tree nuts
I am not allergic to peanuts
If I had a nickel for every time I've explained to someone that peanuts are legumes, not tree nuts ......

I found this before it hit fark and already called my mom to ask if she remembered her diet in the late 70s but, she couldn't clearly recall.

Believe me, I grew up with, "Well, it is the only thing we know how to do, and we have done it for years."
And I say, say I, "But, it does not seem to help'.
"IT IS THE ONLY THING WE KNOW",  and I wander away lost.

I thought you needed help with your computer so I was going to offer to check your BIOS but then...
I read your bio and I like you, you can come over to my house and fark my sister! (sorry, you actually can't do that latter thing)  Along with the lobbyists we need to clean out all the federal bureaus that are stocked with ex-lobbyists now pulling strings for their former corps (which they probably still have millions worth of hidden stock in).  Banish the present FDA which is pay to play....

Oh good - I saw the news, and came here hoping to find a headline exactly like this. Nicely done.

So does anyone know when this paranoia over nut allergies became a thing? I'm sure the condition had been known for a while, but the hypothesis about pregnant women eating nuts didn't seem to be around until recent years. I love how the scientific minds of our generation think they can offer a solution without knowing the cause.

Honestly, the few times I've tasted peanuts/peanutbutter (by acciddent), it was so bitter it was almost painful.  It's like being stabbed in the mouth and tongue with pins.  Then the swelling happens and the breathing stops...

Merely the smell of tree nuts is enough to nauseate me.  I cannot walk thru a mall with a roasted nut stand this time of year.  I can't be in a house where there are walnut brownies or banana nut bread being baked.  My nose and tongue are usually very quick to tell me DANGER DANGER.  I've only had 4 bad reactions since high school.  First was college freshman year at a pitch-in and i passed out on a bathroom floor in convulsions.  Second was an ignorant waitress at IHOP (haven't been to one since) assuring me repeatedly that the item didn't contain nuts (should've sued them) and I had abdominal cramping so bad I couldn't sit up for 2 days (I recall it well since that second day was 9/11/2001), Third was a family reunion when i took a bite of green bean casserole which for some reason contained almond flour.  (i should've asked around first)  Fourth was my wife bringing me a brownie which her coworker assured her was nut-free (she knows to ask) and this too contained almond flour.

Unfortunately, there is a real nut/+/-/legumes and a few other seeds, especially for your far northern European gene group.
Real as in fatal.
Doesn't take much to make a thing out of that.

I'm similar with peanuts.  Just the smell is enough to start my throat swelling, my sinuses to clog, eyes to get red, wheezing, etc...
