That was the Eli Manningest performance in a while. This is his 4th quarter:

Drive 1: Eli fumbles recovered by the offense, 4 yard pass on 4th and 14, punt
Drive 2: 2 incomplete passes, punt
Drive 3: 25 yard pass and then 3 incompletions, punt
Drive 4: Picked off at the Detroit 20 when a FG would have won it

And, of course, they win in overtime.

CSB: his sister Promise plays guard for the Sun Devils.  At a game last year, I saw Prince at one of her games and we talked for a bit.  He's pretty small by NFL standards, about my height.  This was circa Feb/Mar, and I remember asking him, "when does camp start up for you guys?" and he said he was flying to NYC in a few days for OTAs or some shiat.

Watching it happen, all I could think was "welp, that gets labeled a game winning drive by Eli. Again."

I think the Giants tend to win (when they win) in spite of Eli, instead of because of.  He's the Favre of the Manning clan, but he doesn't look like a kid out there:

Wow, he looks like he just finished smoking some mean shiat in that pic.

In fact the caption says he did. As a Giants fan, we've been due for a dose of this. Not as bad as the Pats though.

Eli led his team to two Super Bowls. If he gets a third, I hope you all get over it. The team had a bad year. This is not on one person. Look at the Falcons, Ravens, and Texans. All bad years with very good quarterbacks.

I am not a big Joe Flacco fan, but he looks really good even when they are losing. The guy can really extend the field.

I'm not a fan of any of those 3 , but this is interesting.

Essentially Ryan performed as well as prior 3 years (+/- a bit) despite team's problems/injuries, etc.
Flacco and Schaub however actively contributed to their teams decline.

/ PS Flacco has only been a "very good" QB for a 3-4 game hot stretch.

If Eli led his team to two Super Bowls he then also led his team to this shiatty season.  Honestly he has more to do with this shiatty season than the two Super Bowl wins.

Yes, yes, Eli had the worst year of his career in terms of number of interceptions this year (26 with 1 more game left). Even Geno Smith has fewer interceptions than Eli. Ouch.

I find that while ultimately it is the QB's decision to throw a pass, some team mechanics come into play that play a role in interceptions as well. Bad routes, bad play calls, beaten linesmen, tipped passes, etc.. Giants need to improve in a few areas to stem the bad throws.

Eli had 25 INT's in 2010, and he won the Superbowl the following year. He and the Giants are capable of improving, but time is running out for Eli, he's already been in the league for 10 years or so.

Eli had to lead his team to win 6 playoff games before they reached those 2 Superbowls. Cut the crap.

As long as you're willing to admit Eli also led his team to 8 seasons where he choked and didn't win the Super Bowl.

Define "choke", as I don't understand what this has to do with obstructing Eli's airway per Merriam Webster.

Well, I mean playing poorly enough at some point in a season that you are eliminated from the playoffs or playoff contention.

I wouldn't count getting eliminated during the playoffs as choking. Fans are generally happy if this happens with their favorite team, plus anything can and does happen.

But if you want to define it as such for yourself, by your definition, 8 seasons it is.

A great quarterback can elevate a good to middling team (see Payton).  A middling quarterback can win when backed by an awesome defense.  His first Super Bowl Eli played crappy minus one drive.  His defense stopped the undefeated NE offensive machine.  Eli didn't win that first championship, the defense did.
