I've never heard the announcers be so incredulous on a play unfolding in front of their eyes. It was like hearing someone describe the Hindenberg.

To be fair, Subby, it was just outside the numbers.

He has so many pictures of drinking. I just can't believe the Romo news is essentially shutting down all Sports threads. This is some high quality JETS Fail.

I saw Geno throw some beautiful passes this year. I'm not saying he's the next Marino, but he could use some help.

Enough with the unnecessary Cowboy talk. We are trying to mock Jets here

I must confess I haven't seen much Jets this  year. Is Geno actually good?

I don't know. He's clearly unpolished at this point, but he's shown some talent. But because he's throwing to Stephen Hill, Jeff Cumberland, and an injured Jeremy Kerley -- not to mention his running backs suck too -- he is set up to fail.

I get that. Some guys don't get a fair shot - but he's gotta be better than the Sanchize. I just saw him leading the Jake standings a few times this season.

Fixed.

The worst thing I can say about him is that he's making the same mistakes again and again. The best QBs are as smart as they are physically talented. They learn fast. Geno... he's a rookie. I don't know.

We'll see how he does next year, to see if his offseason is productive and educational or not. Admittedly the curve has been thrown off rather significantly by Andrew Luck and especially Russel Wilson in terms of "rookies who learned quickly and don't make the same mistakes repeatedly".

No, he doesn't. In fact, Smith is, by passer rating, the worst QB in the NFL. Behind Eli Manning. Behind Terrelle Pryor. Behind Brandon Weeden and Matt Schaub.

He has a 65.3 passer rating. Mark Sanchez, in his incredibly awful, worst-year-ever performance of 2012, had a 66.9 passer rating.

The point I'm making is that the Jets' offense is completely bereft of talent - if we're pretending that Geno Smith might be good if there was talent surrounding him, we have to do the same for Sanchez.

I dunno, we saw Sanchez with talent around him before and while they were winning everyone knew he still sucked. Except the Jets, apparently.

...and the "vaunted" "top 10" Cleveland Browns defense made him look like he had the arm of Tom Brady and the legs of a healthy RGIII.

/That game should end Ray Horton's head coaching chances. He'll be a Rooney Rule interview, and that's all.

I've said this before -- you can think of him as Sanchez with a bigger arm or Vinny with better legs.  Seems as turnover-prone as either of them though.  He's obviously nowhere near Luck/Wilson/RG3, but there's some talent there.  I'm also worried about conditioning, since there was a significant dropoff after Week 7 before picking it up again last week (he had a decent game against the Raiders, but the Raiders are terrible).  If it's something physical, hopefully they can train him into better shape, and it's not something debilitating like an undiscovered congenital heart defect or something.

Still, he's a rookie, and he should develop.  IMO he was the difference between a 4-win season and a 7-8 win season, and if he can do that while throwing to Jeremy Kerley, Stephen Hill, and David Nelson, and with a rookie left guard letting everybody through, he should be good enough to win with some actual weapons around him.

//This is about as optimistic as I'm allowed to be as a Jets fan.
