This reminds me, I am like 30 episodes behind on Naruto Shippuden.

Better get to that then.

The Pokemon-like sidekick, double-rainbow-vomit color palette, and overall visual style seem nothing like Bebop.  I'll of course give it a shot, but multi-color-me skeptical.

On Crunchy Roll.  Episode 13 comes out next month.

Looks like a cross between Irresponsible Captain Tylor and Captain Gordon (of Disgaea fame). It's a parody of two parodies?

Color me skeptical.

Glorious, that is all I can say about that. Well that and boobies!

Yeah, this is tons more colorful than either Bebop or Champloo.  The characters drove both of those shows.  This looks nowhere near as good, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

It's an island in El Salvador, but that's not important now.

The appearance promises to be interesting -- the monsters/aliens in each episode will be created by different artists, so there is likely to be an odd variety in them.

But will it take the hero six episodes to power up a single attack?

While the guy may have worked on Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo but it doesn't mean that everything he does is in that style.  They're trying to sell the US audience based on their familiarity with those series but it actually seems more Japanese in its sensibilities, at least based on first impressions.

As other people have said. Look at Crunchyroll, they have the air rights afaik in N.A. If you want to torrent it Horriblesubs and some other subbers are doing it.

I'm surprised the article barely bothers to mention Kids on the Slope.  That was a very well-done series with an excellent selection of music for the soundtrack.

I'm surprised Toonami never showed any interest in Hajime no Ippo.  It's basically structured like DragonBall Z, except that stuff actually happens each episode.  It's a shame the DVD releases didn't sell well enough for the rest of the series to get released in the US.

I, for one, am shocked that a boxing anime didn't do very well here in the states where boxing is so popular!

I watch it through Crunchyroll already. I'm just wishing Adult Swim could get hold of it later so more people can see it. I have a friend who would LOVE to see this but unfortunately his computer will not run CR.

Understandable. I would like just to see more anime come here to NA, since there is a lot that is skipped over each season. With my cable provider just getting CN, and toonami to that extent. So I was always use to the use CR or find it through more nefarious means.

Jim from Saint Paul: I, for one, am shocked that a boxing anime didn't do very well here in the states where boxing is so popular!

Most sports anime is DOA in the United States because American anime fans aren't usually the jock-ish type which is a shame because every one that manages to get an American release is usually of a high enough quality that someone along the line thought this would be the show to defy expectations. Prince of Tennis and Suzuka both had mild female fandoms in the US but stuff like Slam Dunk, Big Windup!, and Eyeshield 21 either never hit American shores or did and promptly crashed and burned.

Hey, i watched 3/4ths of Cross Game. Main jerk female character STILL hadn;t warmed up to likeable main character. I'll finish it eventually.

If they were going to bring Johnny back and have him having Dadaistic adventures on Adult Swim I'd watch it. Hell I'd consider watching new eps of the old series too (do they really need to run Teen Titans Go! as much as they do?- and I say this as someone who does enjoy that show too).

Samurai Champloo didn't have her either, and that show was great.  So I'm at least giving this one a shot.

That plus a lot of people don't get that 'love of the game rather than winning'  trope ending that sports anime are so fond of, IMHO. Here, we kinda want the main character to win.

Shoot, Pokemon's practically a sports anime - and Ash NEVER wins the overall competitions. This has bugged a little cousin of mine for a long time.

...now I want to go back and watch Princess 9.

I wouldn't quite call Irresponsible Captain Tylor a parody. It's as valid a Space Opera as any other despite it's relative light-heartedness.

There are definitely vagina monsters in the trailers, so I'd say all signs point to yes.
