With Scallia and Thomas you get the most consistency.  They rule based on the constitution only.  The other liberal judges are all over the place as they do not use the law as a basis for the ruling.  They use whatever they need to further the progressive takeover of America.

Something like that.

You can predict how the SCOTUS will rule on a given issue if you know what sort of ruling will most benefit big corporations. Their ruling upholding the Obamacare mandate that everyone is legally required to buy insurance from private insurance companies was no surprise when viewed using this angle.

Roberts still got ya butthurt, eh? Here's a newsflash: He voted for ObamaCare because he's an ideological Reagan Conservative and recognized the ACA as a victory that would have been out of reach less than a decade before.

So to summarize, within a few months we can expect:

- Unwanted pregnancy to skyrocket, along with abortion and welfare costs and medical costs and... after every corporation suddenly declares itself catholic to save a couple bucks on the employee health plan.

- Explicit christianity in government meetings.

- The complete abolishment of any hint of campaign finance regulation in the name of free "speech".

- Increased ability of any party with 40 seats in the senate to drag the federal government to a halt whenever it feels like it.

- More undeserved national prominence for Larry Klayman.

Wherever this ends up, I am most interested in seeing how the Supreme Court reconciles corporate entities being their own person apart from their owners and with these owners wanting the corporations to hold the same religious beliefs as extensions of their owners.

I'm totally fine with the idea of corporations being people for many legal purposes, but to give those corporate people religious freedoms and protections seems like crazy talk to me.  How would you determine what religion a corporation is?  by a vote of the board of directors?

I'm still waiting for Texas to execute an entire board of directors. Corporations are people, so why can't we jail or execute their executives?

If you can't tell what religion they are, what makes you think you can tell whether they're black or not?

We can jail their executives, and we should.  Corporations are really nothing more than collections of people, so any illegal act done by a corporation had to be authorized and carried out by people.  Those people should be arrested and charged for their crimes.

The only reason we don't see more executives arrested for their decisions is because a number of regulatory bodies are full of people scared to do their jobs for fear of burning bridges with the companies they want to work for in the future.

bigsteve3OOO: the progressive takeover of America.

Yes those dastardly progressives, winning elections even while the GOP does their best to disenfranchise Democratic voters and gerrymander districts at the state level. Truly, this vast left-wing conspiracy is the central threat to America's democratic process.

If only.  We're nearing a chance to actually have a liberal Supreme Court - but it probably won't happen until the next President takes office.  Ginsburg, Scalia, Kennedy, and Breyer are getting up their in years.  Having the chance to replace the liberal justices with those of similar views as well as place liberally minded justices in place of the current conservative ones would be a huge coup.

Amending the Constitution is realistically impossible these days, but having a Supreme Court that will broadly interpret it in light of the changing world gives us the next best ting.

Scalia, Thomas, and Alito will rule against the mandate.  Sotomayer, Breyer, Kagen, and Ginsburg will rule for it.  Roberts and Kennedy are really the only wild cards.
