You've got me there. My comment was more about how people either adopt or are given job titles to make what they do seem more important than they really are. Like cashiers who are called 'associates'. Customers being called 'guests. Garbagemen being called 'sanitation engineers'. Etc etc. That kind of bullshiat sticks in my craw, is all.

A budtender's (a title I think they adopt in jest) qualifications vary.  Some do seem knowledgeable about their products, some don't.  The number one qualification for the position seems to be the ability to "maintain".

True.  True for any retail store.  The places I've been generally have a young lady at the reception/security desk but the store clerks are largely youngish men.

Look, Im old, I get that. But still- I dont look for the cute young person when I go to the hardware store and need a plumbing part. Same when I go to the auto parts place. I want someone who knows what the f they are talking about, and the dispensaries in los angeles county have gotten away with breaking the age discrimination laws, for years now. F them all. Yes, I am bitter as I know a lot and could have used the coin and like to help folks. Cleavage should not be used to sell medicine, even pot. I fully support the legalization of drugs including pot and don't believe there is a Constitutional basis for any sort of drug ban.

That said, I've never known anyone that smokes weed that I can say I'm glad to have knows. Not saying it's causation, just that if I made a Venn diagram of weed smokers I know and people who I think are just losers in general, there would be almost 100% overlap. I'm not going to postulate why or say one causes the other, just that I've learned to stay away from pot smokers. Not that it's the pot that I'm staying away from, but that them smoking seems to be a good indicator of someone I just won't really like in general.

The hitch is that those are the pot smokers you know about. There have been many, many others that you have known that you had not known as smokers.

I've known my share of worthless stoners, I also had my primary dealer as a groomsman in my wedding - we worked white collar jobs together and were good friends, I'd known him for years before he started small scale dealing, and having access to the white collar weed network was a dream come true.

It's like saying all NASCAR or soap opera or real opera fans are the same way: it marks you as uncivilized and unnecessarily judgmental.

I'm that guy too.  Went from heavy smoking to light smoking to smoking only with close friends to only smoking at home to not smoking at all.  Turns out the older I get the more I need the mortality buffer that alcohol adds and pot strips away.  I'm just glad the insight and irreverence I gleaned as a stoned youth is permanent.

Pardon me if I think that drug use is an indication that the user is someone I really don't want to have any business with, professionally or personally. To me it's a weakness of character, and I hold myself and others to some fairly high standards. Of course, you may hold people to whatever standards you deem acceptable.

Did anyone else watch the video linked to in the article about the reported that ate two high-powered brownies without realizing what they were and then wigged out so bad he couldn't get on his flight home?  It was amusing right up until the end where he lets loose with the typical bs propaganda: "I ended up alright, but what would happen if a 16 year old kid got that high and got into a car and was driving??"  What would happen if a kid drank a fifth of vodka before getting in a car and driving?  Does that mean we should bad vodka again now too?
