That we should expect real "news" from any "sports network" whether YES, NESN, or ESPN is ludicrous.

2013-12-21 06:38:55 PM
She's still better than that biatch Hazel Mae, in all sorts of ways.  She's not there for lack of bias, she's there as eye candy.

What effect could a reporter have on the outcome of a game? Former football players do the commentating on NFL games all the time, and that's a much closer relationship.

2013-12-21 06:40:41 PM
Who cares.  You don't look for the broadcast arm of the games to present unbiased journalism...they're cheerleaders (in this case, quite literally).  The local papers will be there to bash the Sox.

Not impressed:

a.espncdn.com

There's never been a ballplayer slept with me who didn't have the best year of his career. Making love is like hitting a baseball: you just gotta relax and concentrate. Besides, I'd never sleep with a player hitting under .250... not unless he had a lot of RBIs and was a great glove man up the middle. You see, there's a certain amount of life wisdom I give these boys. I can expand their minds. Sometimes when I've got a ballplayer alone, I'll just read Emily Dickinson or Walt Whitman to him, and the guys are so sweet, they always stay and listen. 'Course, a guy'll listen to anything if he thinks it's foreplay. I make them feel confident, and they make me feel safe, and pretty. 'Course, what I give them lasts a lifetime; what they give me lasts 142 games. Sometimes it seems like a bad trade. But bad trades are part of baseball - now who can forget Frank Robinson for Milt Pappas, for God's sake? It's a long season and you gotta trust it. I've tried 'em all, I really have, and the only church that truly feeds the soul, day in, day out, is the Church of Baseball.

NESN has never pretended to be unbiased. If New Englanders wanted unbiased sports coverage, we wouldn't love Tommy doing Celtics games.

2013-12-21 06:58:53 PM
I am failing to see how this is a problem.  As a person living in the New England area, I have never turned to NESN for their commentary.  I tune in to watch the freakin game.

Good for Middlebrooks and Ms Dell too.

Jenny is an "on-field reporter".
Which is one step up from "weather girl".
Nobody expects anything but girl next door style eye candy and the occasional injury update from that post.
Jenny fits the bill well.

Heidi was also great.
and so was Tina...and Hazel...

It's not just the broadcasting arm, the Red Sox own a majority share (80%) in NESN.

Too bad, as mentioned above, Hazel Mae is a royal biatch, from eveyrone I know who's worked with the team.

White House reporter sleeping with the chief of staff = violation of integrity.

Sports reporter sleeping with some dude on the team = who gives a crap.

Sports reporters aren't exactly going for hard hitting journalism.  I don't see what the big deal is.

Mrtraveler01: It's not just the broadcasting arm, the Red Sox own a majority share (80%) in NESN.

Yeah, so it wasn't like you'd be getting hard-hitting journalism that was critical of the Sox on that network anyway.  This is really a non-story.

What a pathetic attempt at "slut" shaming in that story.

I'm honestly shocked it wasn't penned by those two twats that run the Boston Herald equivalent of TMZ, Inside Track.

...What will this influence? We are concerned with bias in journalism due to data included, stories presented, commentary on stories, etc., with real news, but she will be a homer who cannot alter the underlying statistics of a game; worst which happens is she makes some additional excuses for her home team, exactly as every other sports reporter does.

Ah yes, "female sideline reporters". The eminently qualified group of news hounds, allegedly hired for something other than eye candy.

We have dismissed this claim.

Jesus, this guy who "reported" this sounds like he's in a jealous rage or something.   Probably has pictures of Jenny Dell (and other NESN women) posted in his basement bedroom.

This. Other than maybe Pam Oliver (who I would tap like a keg), I can't think of one who is even half way competent.

FTA: NESN is a joint venture between Fenway Sports Group (owners of Boston Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club with a 80% majority share)

Wow, two teams that I hope never win a game/match for the rest of recorded history, owned by the same people.

I usually go with. "Tim Wakefield fastball".

BTW, worst greenlight of the year. It's "New England Sports Network". They weren't exactly going to be fluffing the Yankees anyway.

But if it's a chance to heckle Boston sports, guess ya gotta do it.
