Save $2 a month for a year, buy yourself a $24.00 car.

What is the problem?

Would anyone in Cuba even want a modern car?  They wouldn't even begin to know how to maintain them.

Maybe Nissan USA was acting on insider information when they bought that old Maxima?

In other news, American collectors of 1950s cars just got access to a fine collection of cars and parts.

When Bill "Spaceman" Lee went to Cuba on a baseball trip, he thought about bringing a suitcase full of spark plugs.
Fortunately, he realized he had no idea about what kind to get and brought baseballs instead.

FTFA: "Cuba has no car factories."

Well there ya go: China had no consumer electronics factories not so long ago, but they decided to build prison camps industrial zones and solicit foreign investment. Cuba's never been as bad as the PRC or North Korea so they might even get people to work in their new car factories just by paying them wages.

Build car factories, then sell/rent/issue the cars. If they make enough they an export them to, say, Venezuela or Vietnam. It's a shame none of the Castroites thunk this up before, but I hereby release this suggestion to the public, including the Politiburo of the Central Committee of the "Communist" Party of Cuba, to do with as they will.

If and when trade between the US and Cuba re-opens, there will be a killing to be made shipping old used cars across the straits of Florida for sale in Cuba.

It's amazing how Cubans are able to still keep such old cars in the world. If only we didn't have such a wasteful culture like that in the U.S., where everyone 'needs' a new car every 4-7 years.

I've always said if you have the engineering skills to turn a truck into a boat, you should probably be welcomed into the US.

Nope. None of those cars are original any longer, at all.

Unlikely. USA is the only country having an embargo against Cuba.

looks more like a wedge, might just be the angle that makes it look like a snowplow (I thought the same thing at first)

or it is to help push all the other illegal immigrants out of the way when they land on the beach.

Most are cut in half, then welded back together when they get there. Some kind of way around importing laws.
