Doesn't belong in Geek, but a good headline.  Writes itself.

Immigration is highlighted in the headlines but it doesn't seem like immigration is one of the top reasons for the increasing life expectancy.

But it does make some sense. In addition to the differences in lifestyles, people with health problems are less likely to emigrate.

I've stocked up on good curry dishes, for the weekend.  Had to drive past a Wendy's, a McD's and a KFC to get the goods.

/Almost stopped at the Wendy's, because of the 'babe' commercials.  You know, *that* babe

You mean with utensils instead of your hands?

This doesn't mean immigrants are making New Yorkers who were already here live longer. They live longer themselves so they're moving the stats.

Interesting how, now that  immigration "reform" is the topic intended to drag our attention away from other ongoing government disasters, stories are popping up about its benefits.

When has New York ever not experienced an influx of immigrants?

CNN was co-created by the CIA to guide us sheep.  Looking at the number of Total Farkers, I'd say it is working.

Huggermugger: When has New York ever not experienced an influx of immigrants?

The immigrant population in NYC dropped dramatically from 1960 to 1990. European immigration (Italian, Greek, Jewish, etc.) was basically over by 1960, while Asian, non-Puerto Rican Hispanic and Caribbean immigration hadn't really reached the NYC area yet, and the Eastern Bloc was still closed.

Then in the 1990s NYC started to experience an influx of East Asian, South Asian, Hispanic, Caribbean and Eastern European immigrants that continues to this day. Plus more wealthy Europeans and Asians who aren't really "immigrating" since they have the means to be international citizens, though they're a relatively small portion of the overall immigrant population.

It will be funny to see 'real' New Yorkers get displaced by these hard working immigrants and move to some fly over state.
