My only purpose on Fark was to set a good example for others. I quickly found that the website wasn't interested in celebrating everyone's standards in that sense.

We do like some grammetical standards though.

I suppose this will be another one sided hatchet job by a woman with an axe to grind like that recent one about sexual harassment and assault in the military. If it shows at any film festivals I attend, I'll probably check it out if there's not a rom-com playing opposite.

I would work up a little more outrage, until I saw the writer is a Mormon BYU student out of Utah.

Lady, when they suggested you were frigid, they didn't mean that you just needed to put more clothes back on.

My favorite was her comment of being photographed in a dress and high heels was equivalent to being a prostitute. Yep, most modeling gigs don't go for the neck to floor prairie dress with the granny boots, sweetie.

Poor snowflake.  Afraid when faced with the real world.  What did she think they were selling?  Her smile?  She should be happy to learn that exploitation is the name of the game.

Now she is over 18 and wants to keep her clothes on. Good for her.  Due to her experiences, it should be no problem having her fix "sammiches" now.  She knows her place.

And she can keep her clothes on while doing so.

Like a CH-47 sized hanger or a C-5 sized hanger? There's a lot of difference there. Personally, I like a sleek streamlined aircraft, like a F-101 myself, but I hear that some guys prefer something more luxurious and roomy like a KC-135.

Yes because we all know teenage girls never dress or act in a sexualized manor on their own.

I think the fact that it was filmed at an "hourly rate" hotel where she was posed in a short dress next to a bed is what gave the impression of prostitution. Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, is it?

And farking good for her - she stood up for standards that you fools should be standing up for. That is an admirable young lady.

Y'all haters need to settle down.  Yes her revelations are stupidly obvious, but making a documentary about the really obvious lies in out culture is a kind of coming-of-age final film school project, and if it manages to teach a few little girls that it is about sex and "edgy" means "wanton" not "somehow giving you free gifts and attention for no reason at all" it's probably done a good thing.

I also liked how she assumed she would not be able to "keep her clothes on" as an adult model. I see clothed models all the time, I dunno, selling clothes! There is a food chain - if she got relegated to pr0n, then she just didn't have the chops.

CSB time: A super-typhoon hit Guam when I was stationed there with the CG. The sector office was in a converted hangar. The storm knocked the S from COAST, and they didn't realize it until a Squid asked a Coastie to guard his coat.

Look, I like boobies add much as the next guy, but she's right. As a society, we don't seem to see anything wrong with a 15yo being tarted up and put in a magazine dressed a literal whore. Would she dress like that anyway? Probably. Would she normally be exposed to thousands of pervs and have her poor judgement recorded for posterity? No.

We like young looking people. 15-16y/o girls may have finished puberty and are thus the youngest fully developed physical figure. And god knows that high school boys HATE looking at attractive sexualized girls who are in their peer group.

The industry is there to sell a product: clothes.  As a model you are a prop, to show off the clothes.  This is not rocket surgery.  If you have a problem being a prop, then you and your parents should do something about it.

At times, that so-brave Fark snark gets tiresome. This is one of 'em.

TFA is right. The author is right. It's a shameful practice and the industry needs to be shamed, or more likely legislated, into stopping it. Legislated, because there are too many pocket pervs and snarkers to rely on changing the social norms.

Sometimes, Fark, you disappoint me. FWIW.

I remember being a teenager.

My sister had a camera, and I was trying to pose like Madonna did in the images in her album.  There was this one pose, where she's wearing leggings, straddling a chair, legs spread wide, and she's looking to the side.

I thought it was "cool."  I didn't realize that it was "sexy" because I didn't understand "sexy."  So I put on a pair of leggings and a top that I had a close to what Madonna wore, and my sister took pictures of me trying to pose like the singer.

My father caught us, and flipped the fark out.  It was a while before I really understood why.  He asked why i was posing like a whore, and I was like "I'm not. I"m posing like Madonna."  I had a variety of similar experiences trying out makeup and clothes, trying to find the line between fitting in and what didn't get angry outbursts about how I was dressing like a whore.

Maybe when you guys think teenagers are deliberately over-sexualizing themselves, sometimes, they are just trying to copy what they see as popular, without any thought to sex.

Keep that in mind next time one of you farkers says she was "asking for it" dressing like that.

CSB?   A few weeks ago at a local shopping mall I walked by a loooong line-up of young, high school age  girls, 13 - 17 age - short minis, short shorts, cleavage everywhere - it was beyond pathetic.  The line stretched halfway around the mall and, at the front of the line, was a table with several adults sitting and having the girls fill out some forms, go into a curtained off area behind under a banner announcing 'Model auditions' for some agency.....

The CSB part?   Virtually every young girl there was accompanied by her MOTHER (a few dads, too).

Never underestimate the greasiness that is the 'Stage Mother'...

In modelling, people have to know what the model's body looks like to get a sense of how it will look in clothes. I'm not advocating pre-teens running to auditions with their cleavage and cootches hanging out. If anything, a body suit would be appropriate. There's a possibility gay men and women are assessing them. I think what would be fair in auditions is if the models each modeled the same three outfits to prove who looks best/is most versatile.

Modeling is where you lease your body out for advertising and Miss Modesty should have known she was selling her body ahead of time. If she wanted people to tell her she had a pretty face (saw TFA and ummm), well, beauty pageants were probably a better bet. If she wanted to demonstrate a life of modesty, maybe she should have stayed home rather than chasing compliments/flattery/vanity.

She said at various jobs she was asked to wear sheer clothing and pose semi-nude and nude. She would refuse.
"Why as a culture have we accepted the sexualization of young girls?" Card said. "Why is it not that big of a deal for us to see a 15 year old in a major magazine in a highly sexualized picture? Why are we OK with that?"
Card quit modeling before she turned 18. Once she came of age, she said, it would have been harder to keep her clothes on and keep working.

Isn't her posing nude under 18 illegal everywhere (in the US at least)?  How can they even ask that and not get arrested?
