Is it possible for Skip Bayless to communicate without coming across as an insufferable douchebag?

Marmilman: Is it possible for Skip Bayless to communicate without coming across as an insufferable douchebag?

Can a whale swim without water? Can the rain fall upwards instead of down? Can the sun rise in the west?

"ESPN fellating an athlete? Has to be Bayless!" thought I, as I read the headline. Lo and behold, there's ol' Skip. Not surprised.

Now then, I do have to agree with one thing here, though: Brady has been just about the only bright spot on the Patriots roster this year, that is still capable of playing, of course.

I find it fascinating that they could still actually miss the playoffs.

When did they ever stop?

FTFA when speaking of what Brady had done despite losing some of his weapons: "his best linebacker (Jerod Mayo) and, for stretches, his best cornerback (Aqib Talib)".

Lord knows what Brady could have done if he would have had his best linebacker and corner lined up on the field with him.

/wait...
//bayless will always be the douchiest of all douches

That was the most audible cock sucking in written form I've ever witnessed.

It is not actually possible to read that article without hearing Skip's smarmy voice in your head.

Go on, try it; can't be done.

Skip is a douche, but not THE douche, because he is outdouched by Joe Buck, and his douche equals are Steven A Smith and Peter King.

Also, this article was probably outlined years ago with fill in the blanks for Brady / year / team_Injuries.

/writers fellating Romo was better troll fodder.

I feel there should be a warning label on all links to Skip's articles.

watching espn first take is like watching a couple 10 year old argue over who is better or what team is better... the most cringe worthy is when stephen a smith says "my cowboys" follows later by "my steelers" and "my yankees"... god, could you be any more of a bandwagon frontrunner? and then bayless responds with some poorly-thought-out diatribe on how he wants to have lebron's/brady's/peyton's/bryant's/cutler's baby

I don't know, he tends to have issues with the clutch. While he's had many game saving plays, he has had many game losing interceptions at the last second. I've started calling it 'Bradying it in the end zone'

He's a good QB but he needs to work on that.

I prefer the old pre-2007-08 Tom Brady who was more of a game manager and less of a dargon pass tossing glamour QB. The Pats should have to have so many late game comebacks and I think aside form the four comebacks Brady has this year, his late game heroics is overstated. He also gets mad at his receivers missing passes when he's just as much at fault for throwing shiatty passes. And I say all this as a Pats' fan.

Brady is still among the best QBs in the league but I feel his time has passed. Unless New England decides to spend the money to bring top defensive and receiving players to the team, I bet Brady never wins another Super Bowl.

They only do this in between fluffing episodes of LeBron.  Lebron lebronned a dunk and everyone Lebronned on the Miami Lebrons.

The ONLY good thing about the NFL season ending is THEY FINALLY SHUT UP ABOUT THE FARKING patriots AND HOODIE, BRADY, GRONK ET AL!!!

2013-12-21 09:51:41 AM
Yes why do they pay attention to the best players? Equal time should be given to the shiatty players, that's why ESPN sucks too much focus on the "good" players. I need to know more about Christian Ponder and Dwayne Gabbert. Wait is it Dwayne? Damn you ESPN it's your fault I don't know the Jaguars' QB's name.

Who wants to see coverage of future hall of famers when there's so many untold stories out there of guys that will be out of the league in a year? What did the Cowboys backup punter have for breakfast? Why don't we hear more about the Milwaukee Bucks 8th man? C'mon ESPN, do some reporting!

2013-12-21 09:57:15 AM
Yes, there is nothing wrong with talking about a good team/player.  What I hate is they manage to drag the pats/brady into conversations that aren't even relevant.

They've been in the hunt every year and they would be a serious contenders again this year if losing Kelly, Wilfork and Mayo hadn't gutted the center of the defense.
They were finally getting good defensive back play which made me optimistic. I was certain the passing game would improve over its horrendous start and then they would be strong on defense, offense and special teams.
Sadly when the rookie receivers gained experience and Vereen, Amendola and Gronk had returned the defense was crippled.
I never appreciated Mayo as much as I should have until I saw Hightower in his spot trying to cover tight ends and running backs :(

Nobody is guaranteed anything and I'll always take the field against any single team in the salary cap era, but I think the Pats will be serious contenders for a few more years and that is the best any fan can rationally expect.

I always have to remind people at work that the managers that save their teams from backlogs or various catastrophes were also the ones that put them there in the first place.

they've been in the hunt, but "dagron Brady" as he called him has zero rings since he started doing his Kurt Warner/Peyton Manning impression

Exactly. If you're going to give him sole credit for winning it in the 4th quarter, you have to give him sole credit for losing the game for three quarters.

That has more to do with their inability to put together a good defense than Brady.

Only on Fark will someone make the argument that a team got worse because their QB started playing better.

True, but dear Lord does Cowherd suck, and I'm more likely to run into him because he's on the radio when I'm in the car. I can HEAR his popped collar. Seriously.

I love how the week after Brady throws a game-ending interception in the end zone against a division rival, we get an article about how clutch he is.

They have a Peyton run game of swing passes, screens, draws, bubble screens, etc.  There is no more Curtis Martin.  When you have a high powered passing offense and no run to chew clock and seal games, your defense looks a lot worse because theyre on the field so much.  It's a simplistic summary, but it has an effect, just like it does for Peyton led teams and the Saints
