Remember that these are the only people under D.C. law who can be trusted to carry guns.

According to court documents, Lawrence was trying to hang a projection TV in his Accokeek home when he became angry that his wife didn't know where the screws to hang it were.

NO SCREW HANGARS!

Lawrence, 45, joined the department in 1990 and is a patrol officer on the department's fourth district, Assistant Police Chief Peter Newsham said...
"It's horrible to have one of our members involved a domestic violence assault like that whereby they brought charges," Newsham said.

Most people would've said that it's horrible to have one of their members involved in an assault like that, period. But not Peter Newsham, Defender of the Thin Blue Line.

Wow...you'd think a cop would be more effective at killing someone than that

Cops routinely get away with domestic abuse. The fact that any charges were brought in this case is actually quite surprising.

He just needed to spin it right.  She cut herself and he was trying to disinfect the wound but she fell over and smaked her wrist.  Easy peasy.

Particularly because, according to the article:
The victim said her husband has put the family through a lot over the years, News4's Mark Segraves reported.

So this likely isn't the first DA complaint and Newsham or someone like him has covered up the others, hence his outrage at actually having charges brought this time.

After seeing their house, I see three possibilities:  His wife has a really good job, the DC PD pays a LOT better than local agencies, or he's been taking money "on the side".

There's a reason many of the natives here the avoid DC. But the city is much better and on its way up, thanks in large part to the naive.
