cowgirl toffee: No cowbell?

are you kidding? it has one! DING!

2013-12-20 04:05:46 PM
Nickelodeons and similar contraptions always fascinate me.

I want one!

2013-12-20 04:08:01 PM
That is amazing.

2013-12-20 04:11:10 PM
I was going to suggest that Pat Metheny's Orchestrion is "greater" but then this dude's is all mechanical and Huell Howser is presenting it. And you cannot trump the Huell.

It could use a little more.

That's not a pan flute.

2013-12-20 05:42:28 PM
That thing is loud and stupid.

/still cool though

2013-12-20 07:09:39 PM
Loved Huell, his idiotic questions and incessant need to interrupt people he was interviewing

/seriously

2013-12-20 07:53:19 PM
I could watch this on a loop for a solid hour, and I'd pay 20$ to see it played in person. This is just 100% kick ass.

2013-12-20 07:56:25 PM
Every time I heard a clink or a clang I could see a cartoon character getting clobbered.

2013-12-20 07:58:10 PM
Dude should be doing porn soundtracks.

2013-12-20 08:07:19 PM
Came in expecting to see a video of a Hammond B-3, but this was actually pretty cool. Thanks, subby!

2013-12-20 08:23:33 PM
I need this in my life.

2013-12-20 08:59:57 PM
I always thought the goofy cartoon music was done by a room-full of guys going nuts.

Shoulda' figured it was made by insane musicians playing a machine that should have been in the cartoons.

2013-12-20 09:18:46 PM
Awwww, I miss Huell Howser!

2013-12-20 09:18:52 PM

Nice rendition of 12th Street Rag.  Youtube has a video of Circus Galop done on a Story & Clark MIDI piano that is crazier by half again. I'd link to it if I were better at this but it's well worth the search and a listen to complete your musical education and/or drive you to drink. (I know, too late for most of you).

Interested in buying (with all that new lawsuit money):

what's really cool about this instrument is that it has the ability to get this video link greenlighted over and over every few months.

2013-12-21 12:14:59 AM
DURRRRRRR, I saw this like a thousand ago!

2013-12-21 12:37:32 AM
I'm wondering if this is where the expression of something having "all the bells and whistles" comes from.

Did you know you can still get brand new modular synths from a company that's been around since 1959?

2013-12-21 11:36:25 AM
Damn. And I thought my grandfather could be annoying!

2013-12-21 02:04:41 PM
Gordon Bennett

No, this is.

Nothing sounds quite like an 808.

did YOU know that modular synths are fun and easy to make yourself if you are handy with a soldering iron?

why, yes, I did pick up another hobby recently.. why do you ask?

but, as I am also a big electro mechanical fan, that Nickelodeon is kick ASSS!

arcas: Imagine sharing an apartment or townhouse wall with a neighbor who practices on one of those things for hours per day...

I know... amazing right? I would be forced to come over and jam along with a Ukelele!

and, late at night, while snuggled up with my lady fair... our love making would be serenaded.

I have one of those in my basement. You think it's a really cool thing to have and you plan on using it a lot, but...nah.

Ermm... that's cool.  You might also take note the that the stuff at the link I provided is available in kit or finished form and all come with complete schematics, etc.  Perhaps I should note that I signed up for their catalog back in 197x when I was just a spud.  Now that I grown up and a real tater now, I've still never bought a damned thing from them.

/must get the Theremax kit soon.

That looks fun, but it's no Wanamaker.

i.imgur.com

It also has bells and percussion but admittedly no oogah horns or whistles.
