The pope sold his motorcycle and gave the money to the homeless.

He also sneaks out of the vatican at night and feeds the homeless. This Pope Francis guy is pretty awesome.

Or he realizes that secular right wing politics pose a very real threat to Christianity as a whole.

So who's had the longest streak of daily Fark headlines (apart from sitting presidents)?  Palin? Lohan?  Sheen?  Bines?  Zimmermann?

Francis still has a long way to go to beat them.

(Although I prefer seeing Pope Francis headlines than the aforementioned bozos)

The first Pope to realize, by their Christian teachings, that Jesus is a liberal!

"These attributes, in spite of poverty and the strict integrity which shut him out from the more worldly successes, attracted to him many admirable persons, as naturally as sweet herbs draw bees, and as naturally he gave them the honey into which fifty years of hard experience had distilled no bitter drop. Earnest young men found the gray-headed scholar as young at heart as they, thoughtful or troubled women instinctively brought their doubts to him, sure of finding the gentlest sympathy, the wisest counsel. Sinners told their sins to the pure-hearted old man and were both rebuked and saved. Gifted men found a companion in him. Ambitious men caught glimpses of nobler ambitions than their own, and even worldlings confessed that his beliefs were beautiful and true, although `they wouldn't pay'."

Merry Christmas, Farkers.

That's what I always tell people on Black Friday.  Think back to Christmas six years ago.  I was working at a Radio Shack.  You know what our big Black Friday sellers were?  Bluetooth headsets, portable DVD players, digital picture frames, Sirius radios, and the Motoral Razr2.  None of those things are widely used anymore and 98% have probably hit the thrash at some point in the last six years.

It's crazy how much trouble people will go to to buy something they'll just throw away in two or three years.

Did anyone added him to the LOPCAGATA yet?

He is awesome, but the awesomest thing about it is that, the right wing nuts now can't claim that their views aligns with the view of Jesus. Of course, they will say that they are right and Pope is wrong, but that's where the real lulz is.

2013-12-20 04:34:39 PM
FTFA: The pope also denounced the world's "throw-away culture"

The prevalence of disposable goods is a sign of increasing economic prosperity.  Which is bad, I guess.

Also, the presence of excess garbage, particularly packaging garbage, is caused by government-run garbage services that set the price of garbage too low, thereby subsidizing the creation of garbage.

That's what happens when government sets the price for something below its actual cost.  The same thing happens with government roads and the government-price for their use that is set too low (i.e., zero)--you get traffic jams.

FTFA: made the case that food that is unnecessarily tossed out each day could feed the hungry and poor

A massive amount of food is tossed out because of government regulations that require it.

Is there nothing that Pope Frankie cant manage to get completely wrong?

Well don't get too ahead of yourself, there's the whole God, Jesus, sinners and saints thing.  But, one does not need believe in those to be a decent human being.  In fact, I'm an agnostic but the parables of Jesus provide wise examples of how to do that.  It is amazing how many visible 'Christians' forget these stories which are, perhaps as much as Jesus himself, the meaning of what it is to be a Christian.

It is nice to see a person of influence and visibility using that position for good and demonstrating it with his own actions.

A minority of right wing nuts are Catholic. They're mostly evangelical Protestants, Babdists and what not. They can just tell the Pope to fark off. Now, your EWTN Catholics, they're in a pickle.
