"I don't get how them gays like the ass sex." Or, "The blacks liked to be subjugated."

How is that non-judgemental, Newt?

Funnier now that Newt's converted to Catholicism.

I'm disappointed that an old man from the swamps of Louisiana turned reality tv star isn't the PR savy urbane sophisticate I imagined him to be.

Panelist LZ Granderson shot back: "There's nothing really remarkable about slandering people and then coming around and saying, 'Love everybody.'"

Remarkable?  Um...maybe not.  I'd say more warped.

Not really funny "Ha ha!" though. More funny "Get off the stage you useless piece of distended rectum!"

I, too, find it interesting that the support you hear is centered on the gay thing.  I said yesterday that I found his comments about African Americans and the civil rights movement to be much more disturbing.

Apparently Blacks don't watch Duck Dynasty, but Gays do. I was unfamiliar with that stereotype as well.

It's a matter of perspective.  Gay rights have had a banner year when no one was expecting it to happen.

At any other time the Civil Rights would be the big one.

A secret Marxist and anathema to US society?

Cause that's what i've been hearing from the right wing about Francis for weeks now.

I think that has alot to do with it.  It's the current civil rights focus.  Immigrants will probably be next.

As awesome as the new Pope has been, I need him to say one more thing:

"I completely disagree with everything Newt Gingrich has ever said. I consider him the spawn of Satan."

He does that, I'll start going to church.

When Phil gets hauled off to jail for his words we can talk about his first amendment protections.

This whole thing is farking looney tunes. But what did I expect from republican outreach around?

You are right the government should not have had this man ripped out if his bed, tried for treason, killed, and his body violated just because he spoke out saying something stupid.

/ last I knew it was a privately held company that fired him over pissing off advertisers and breaking the terms of his contract.

How can he receive communion when he was divorced?  Have they changed that rule since my mom's days.  That rule really hurt her.

Nice to see this whole thing is building up steam at the speed of derp. Are we blaming it on Obama yet? I think that's all we're missing now.

Y'know, I think a lot of people are getting tired of the "pro-gay" sentiment---enough is enough already. And that's not saying those same folks are "anti-gay". Just that it's being flaunted [in the media/on the web] too much.

OJFC.  His defenders are as stupid as his opponents.  The network made a business decision (a stupid one, in my opinion, but I don't run a television network).  Case closed.

He's not from the swamps.  He's from Caddo Parish.  I lived in Caddo parish for five years and to hear someone who lived and work there for over five decades say that he pretty much never saw racism leads me to the conclusion that they are either completely full of shiat or really, really, dumb or both.

...And there's also the chance that it's your typical self-righteous thing going on here (i.e. "I'm not anything bad...").
