I remember Robocop 2 had a short scene -- where robo blasts a cigarette from a guys mouth while saying thank you for not smoking -- that was edited into a short antismoking psa for theaters. I don't remember it clearly, and I'm not sitting through Robocop 2 again.

Is that what Summer Glau was in The Chronicles? I always thought by like the 4th episode, Sarah Connor was going to open a door without knocking and catch John buggering it.

The Jam were a great band but I suppose that after getting shot up like that it was inevitable that he would have to become a crime fighting robot.

Summer Glaus a tough call. Teeth and eyes are weird, not much of a body.

That was just a teaser trailer.  Was on the EPK when I worked for an entertainment show back then.

Besides that everyone knows Robocop loves chicken...

I dunno. Much like Niven pointed out in Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex, once she gets worked up it could be damaging to a human.

I love how when they use the Konglish "fried chicken" (instead of the literal Korean words for "friend" and "chcken"), "friend" becoms a four-syllable word in Korean, something like "hoo-ra-ee-duh."  It says something both about the limitations of the language and the ingenuity of the people using it.

It actually makes sense, given that if you use the Korean words for fried and chicken you're assumed to be speaking of Korean-style fried chicken, whereas when you use the Konglish "hoo-ra-ee-duh chee-kin" you're assumed to mean American-style fried chicken.

This reminds me, at work we have a conference room named "Detroit." I need to print out a new sign that says "Delta City."

Oh...I expected the real RoboCop in the ad.  You know; not a remake no one asked for.

Look on the bright side.  In a couple more months, RoboCop 2 is going to look like farking Dredd compared to the remake.

(I actually sort of like the second movie, in a comfort food horrible piece of shiat kind of way.)

The problem with the second film is it's some else trying to make a Paul Veerhoeven film.  The third just felt like fanfiction.

Well, another part of the problem is they took a mediocre Frank Miller story, cut out a good chunk of the more solid themes, shifting some of them to Robocop 3 (like the Rehab Unit and eviction notices), and then tried to make a Paul Verhoeven flick.

If it started with a GOOD Frank Miller story as the base, it might've sucked less.  I kept getting told by other people that the comic that Frank Miller made based off his original story was so awesome zomg and proved Hollywood is stupid... and then I read it and discovered that it wouldn't have helped that much if they left it largely untouched.

When they took those themes out of 2 and tried to make a movie out of them, they ended up making a steaming pile of PG-13 crap designed to sell toys (why do you think they had that stupid kid who could hack ED-209?).
