"an investigation conducted by an attorney from out of town"

Is this article from the Mayberry Weekly Gazette?

So, basically, teen aged girls happened in El Segundo High?

2013-12-20 04:54:45 AM
Sounds about right for El Segundo. It's one of those schools where social structure is basically fascist regime of parents.

2013-12-20 05:12:00 AM
So inappropriate contact and drug-use are okay?

The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, dickheads and the cheer team.

You may remember El Segundo High School from the movies The Blackboard Jungle, Superbad, Inspector GadgetAlvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and War Games or from TV shows such as Beverly Hills 90210, The OC, CSI: Miami, 24, or Joan of Arcadia, or even from Nike commercials.

Mean Girls was filmed at Montclair High School in New Jerseyand it was only a minor role. Most of Mean Girls was shot in Toronto, Canada.

These parents are obviously confused about what is going on at their children's school.

I would love to see coaches dismissed for promoting a "mean girls" culture, if that is what actually happened.

How, exactly, is competitive cheerleading judged?  Would a squad of sincere, athletic girls with positive attitudes who functioned well as a team have a chance of winning if they weren't the hottest girls from their school?  Or are the judges primarily straight men there to ogle young bodies?

flondrix: Or are the judges primarily straight men there to ogle young bodies?

The judges are primarily women, and the good ones at least don't really care how hot the girls are.

That makes it even worse, seems to me.

This.  I'd be surprised if any coaches were good enough that they were able to discourage the whole "mean girls" culture.

The real problem is when a principal actually encourages it

Happy to leave it to the administration.  If it was enough of an issue for them to notice, investigate, and then can the coaches it was probably some egregious favoritism & bullying.

About time someone started taking a stand against bullying where it starts.

I've had it up to here with these three-part, multiple-choice questions. I mean, except for here on Fark, in the real world, when have you ever been confronted with three multiple-choice answer questions, A), B), and C)? Never, that's when!! It's only ever been, A), B), C), and D). So, Fark, please alter your filters to correct this misleading incorrectedness. Thank you.

I never realized how much higher (or is the skirt shorter) LL pulled up her skirt in that scene.  This screen grab seemed to point out her future.

From what I have noticed as a high school teacher is that the cheer advisor doesn't really run the team. It usually seems like it's a couple of the booster club parents who actually run the show. In fact, I can't seem to remember a staff member being an advisor.

At my wife's school, one of the PE teachers wanted the job just to kind of clean up the culture, but the former principal wasn't having it. Alot of the staff at the school kind of thought the cheerleaders were above the law (their uniforms aren't dress code, practicing on the field in sports bras and booty shorts, etc.) Anyhow, the teacher wanted the job for just a couple of years and she is like #2 or 3 on the entire district seniority list.

On a separate occasion, she offered this response to the teacher's reprimand: "Pull your panties out of a wad." "Gang members were nothing compared to these girls," the teacher told Jones.

First, "pull your panties out of a wad"? That's just sad right there. Cheerleader needs to learn her some English.

Second, that teacher has led a very sheltered life if "pull your panties out of a wad" is worse than anything that real gang members have ever done.

Sounds like failure all around there....

Not sure when or how "Cheer" became a sport and "Cheer coach" became a profession our schools wasted money on but it has the stench of Title IX all over it. Used to be the girls PE teacher handled cheerleader stuff.
