... which means he's going about 10mph faster than Cletus J. Farkhat in a suburban with bald tires on beltway 8.

but seriously, that is fun stuff.

Wow. That thing just ate the first 100mph. And it didn't even show signs of the acceleration lessening until 185.

Impressive.

I love that toll way! never go faster than 75 mph tho -- I just use it to avoid getting into Austin. =P

I think it hit 140 in less time than it takes for my Civic to hit 60.

That car is pure American Sex.

While 1st through 4th was all car, you notice when Hennessey shifted into 5th, left hand presses handheld button. This was activating the 100hp Nitrous system to overcome the "limitation" of 5th-7th gears being Overdrive.

Also, there are quite a few in the hot rod community that wouldn't even give a quart of used oil to that thieving crook Hennessey.

Unless they were drinking some Hennessy.

Hennessey Performance has made some great cars but John Hennessey is a serious (ahem) snake.

Jambalaya James: My wife got me this last year. I didn't think it would made a difference, but when I'm rocking my low-end sedan, a driving jacket really makes me feel a little bit better about myself.

I'm a little bit surprised he was only able to get it to 600hp without the nitrous.  The new Z06 is set to debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January, and the rumors are that instead of a bored and stroked engine it's going to have some form of forced induction.  I wouldn't be surprised if it pushes 600hp or above.  The current LS-A can do 580 with a supercharger, so something based off of the LT1 should be able to do better.

Yeah, but did the toll system get him?

It says at the beginning that they're "Testing the EZ Tag System", and then they don't tell you whether it got him or not!

At 0:07, you can see the flash go off, but it's really hard to tell if it was too late.

I like seeing the Car's actual speedometer rolling up to Two Zero Zero.
,,,and the last 15 seconds where a real State Trooper might see that readout and say 'Fark That'..

Okay. Now I need a good racing game where you can mess with a lot of different cars on the PC. I liked Forza 3 or whatever it was on the 360 a few years back, but I don't have a console anymore. I've heard nothing but bad things about the new Forza/Gran Turismo anyways.

Historians are going to look back on these cars and call this the "Jack-o-lantern" design era.

not impressed with..  any thing involving vehicles..  yes I got me a 1999 Ford Windstar...  got it for $1000 I think 6 years back and it had 80k something on it.  now sitting on 146,000... That's 1.5 cents a mile and dropping fellas.   hows that for a real car stat?

200MPH= 293.3 ft. per second or about 2 yards short of a football filed. Probably didn't see the lines.

Manual console clutch?!? Jeebus America, try to catch up to the late 90s flappy panels at least. 180 mph is no time to be taking your hand off the wheel to change gears.

At this rate it'll take them another 15 years to even get close to making something this good:

The new Corvette has paddle shifters for the manual and automatic transmissions.  For the manual, it comes with an sensor to automatically rev the engine to match the clutch plate speed.

The Hennessy driver was using the console shifter as an option, he didn't have to.

A quick GIS of "Hennessey crook" whipped up a few forums where, if the posters are to be believed, he has wrung out six-figures worth of cash from at least one person, not including selling that person's Viper's OEM parts (hood, wheels, etc.) with absolutely zero work done to the actual car, not to mention missing deadlines by months, not even possessing the requests new parts for this particular car.  In one forum, Hennessey himself appears to participate, and shows a, um, lack of class and quite possibly humility, not to mention a grasp of acting professionally.  But that's just me.  Read for yourself and be your own judge.  The focus seems to be on out-of-state (I.e. non-Texas residents) that feel they were lied to and manipulated.

Stick to your damn lane? And no, I have never gone 200 mph. My current car doesn't go over 140. I have been passed plenty of times by cars going way faster and they could drive in their lane.

Exactly. Driving 200 mph on a closed highway and then congratulating yourself with fistpumping and flagwaving ect; good grief. What is this? Fast and furious? Where was the speed tunnel that is supposed to be there at around 100 mph?
