No free speech for You!

2013-12-19 01:50:44 PM
Isn't this the same crowd that just got done calling for Martin Bashir to be deported?

2013-12-19 01:56:24 PM
"politically correct" = "why can't I be a bigot and racist?!?!?"

2013-12-19 01:58:19 PM
Free speech is not freedom from consequences

Having never watch a single episode I couldn't give a fark one way or the other.

Take your own advice and don't be stupid, Piyush.

2013-12-19 02:07:14 PM
And you were equally outraged over what happened to Natalie Maines, right Bobby?

Interesting words coming from the Governor of a state where you can be fired for being gay.

2013-12-19 02:07:43 PM
I said this in the redlit thread, but...
---
I remember when TV networks believed in the First Amendment.

I wasn't aware that television networks were a branch of the government, since the First Amendment clearly refers only to actions by the government impeding on a person's right to their religious beliefs, press, speech, assemble, or petition the government. I was completely unaware that the First Amendment required that everyone with a platform had to unconditionally give it up to whomever so wants to use it. Thanks, BOB, for clearly that up for me.

*sarcasm off*
This is a free market decision, plain and simple. Trying to spin it any other way is incredibly ignorant.

He's definitely not going to sleep with you.

2013-12-19 02:08:07 PM
This goober got suspended because of freedom of speech

He was free to share his bigotry with GQ. Nobody from the government stopped him

GQ was free to publish the story. Nobody from the government stopped them.

A&E was free to release the statement announcing his suspension. Nobody from the government stopped them.

Why do you hate freedom of speech?

mediablitz: "politically correct" = "why can't I be a bigot and racist?!?!?"

Pretty much. Just don't forget the "...without anyone pointing it out" part.

2013-12-19 02:08:37 PM
I remember when TV networks believed in the First Amendment.

This has nothing to do with the first amendment. A&E is a private entity that has every right to cater to whatever demographic it wishes.

Bobby:  You realize, of course, that the Duck Dynasty guy doesn't think you should be allowed to vote or use the same water fountain as him.

I'll never understand right wingers like this; they think the Dixie Chicks should be black listed for life, but no matter what one of their heroes does it's EVIL that there be any consequences.

Written by a government employee and disseminated using government resources.

Yes, this small-government conservative is using taxpayer dollars to talk about reality TV.

"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."

"I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once... They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people' -- not a word!"

"Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."

No one. Was singing. The Blues.

Before Welfare.

"The politically correct crowd is tolerant of all viewpoints, except those they disagree with"

I've seen conservative farkers use this line for years, and for years I've seen people respond  something about not having to tolerate stupidity, yet it never sinks in.

I don't really know why, but for some reason I find this fascinating. Not the guy saying stupid shiat so he can sell more crappy camouflaged merchandise, but the weird white-knighting of a "reality" show character. It's farking surreal.

Peter von Nostrand: Free speech is not freedom from consequences

Seriously, I'm so farking sick of people not getting that.  No one is saying you don't have the right to say stupid things.  But the rest of us who aren't morons also have the right to make fun of you for saying stupid things.

2013-12-19 02:13:29 PM
The number of small gov't conservatives currently calling for A&E to be FORCED by the government to have "Uncle Phil" reinstated have officially broken the irony barrier. Irony is now flowing freely into our dimension. None are safe!! LOCK YOUR DAUGHTERS AND HIDE YOUR DOORS! The end is derp!

2013-12-19 02:13:30 PM
I think Bobby Jindal should have his tongue ripped out.

But that's just my opinion.  Sorry if that's politically incorrect.

2013-12-19 02:13:56 PM
Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there.

I was unaware that sex was the root of all sin in Christianity.

2013-12-19 02:14:02 PM
When someone starts whining about political correctness it's safe to just discount whatever they say afterwards because it is always nonsense.

Don't be a dick. If you are a dick don't whine and cry when people point out what a dick you are.

2013-12-19 02:14:10 PM
Damn, conservatives sure do hate it when businesses act in their own perceived best interests based on the free market.

The Dixie Chicks would like a word with you, Gov. Douchenozzle

2013-12-19 02:14:41 PM
I'm just so tired of so many people being so stupid.

2013-12-19 02:15:15 PM
While we are all busy condemning the bigot, shouldn't we smear him with the far larger crime; participating in a low-rent reality show?

2013-12-19 02:15:37 PM

sammyk: Isn't this the same crowd that just got done calling for Martin Bashir to be deported?

And before that, Piers Morgan.
And before that, David Letterman, for the same crime as Bashir committed: offending the fragile sensibilities of Saint Mother Palin.
You can really tell these people who swear by the Constitution as if it were their bible were the same ones sleeping during US History classes.

2013-12-19 02:15:47 PM
Duck Dynasty is a product. Part of that product proved to be defective, if that idiot had half a brain he'd realize that BEFOREHAND and continue to be an actor in that product.

If that little fat ass Honey boo-boo started spouting off that quars are the debbil, her ass would be fired in a jiffy.

It got removed.

Don't like it? Suck one.

Typical conservative double standards - when someone criticizes their outgroups, they hide behind the "1st amendment" shield in order to defend their heroes from whatever stupid crap they say.

Same thing with Paula D. back in June - they're afraid to flat out say something like "Go Paula! Tell them the truth about them darkies blacking up shiat", but instead will be like "She's got the right to freedom of speech and the bad old media's punishing her for being nonPC and furthermore THEY say the n-word all the time,.."

Just wait until some liberal out there makes a redneck joke - they'll be demanding an apology, a resignation, and a boycott of their employers for "disparaging Real AmericansTM".

There used to be a show with a name similar to that, politically correct. Got canceled for some reason. I bet Bobby was equally upset then as well

remember the Dixie Chicks? the Christian Right destroyed them for expressing a viewpoint they disagreed with. Free speech is a double edged sword because it goes both ways. You're free to speak your mind but those listening are free to respond too.

My Facebook feed is about 40% white knighting of this redneck. Unless you count the comments on local news outlets asking for opinions. Then it jumps up to about 85%.

A bunch of religious rednecks from Louisiana and the oldest redneck is homophobic? Was I to expect something different?

should the politically correct crowd be tolerant of bigoted speech? if not why even call them "the politically correct crowd"?
