But this gentleman is a legal, responsible gun owner, good sir.

If you can't hit the broad side of a barn (or water tower), you shouldn't be allowed to own a gun.

Not clicking an Opposing Views link.

I am a responsible gun owner and believe that other responsible citizens should be able to own and carry firearms at will.

That being said, lock this asshole up, convict him of a felony, take his guns.  Discharge of a firearm in city limits, reckless endangerment, attempted aggravated assault.  That ought to do it.  It's retards like these that make the rest of us look bad.

Is he going to be charged with aggravated vandalism for repeatedly plinking at the public water supply, too?

Why does the article gloss over the fact that he was shooting at a water tower?  WTF?  Shouldn't he be arrested for that fact alone?

Buckley was in possession of a concealed weapons permit at the time of the incident.

Responsible gun owners are as common as good Christians and good drivers.

Because it is no big deal, as water towers are tanks and everyone knows tanks deflect small arms fire.

/that is how tanks got the name, as a way to keep them a secret as a war weapon.
//seriously though, he is felony stupid

Not only that, but firing bullets that leave his property is not "doing whatever he wants on his own private property", so he loses his "argument" on that coont as well...

What an asshole.

He was violating 3 out of 4 cardinal weapons safety rules.  The key one here being "know your target and what lies beyond."

That is a textbook example of an irresponsible gun owner.

Exactly - Guns aren't toys - they're for shooting dangerous or delicsious animals, or keeping the King of England outta your face.

HotWingConspiracy: So what you're saying is, he was responsible yesterday, but now he's not?

No, from the article it sounds like he has been irresponsible for years, this is just the first time there have been consequences for him.

Because he has such a flagrant disregard for basic safety rules, I think he should have the book thrown at him.  He makes all gun owners look bad.

Dunno, but I think it's a combination of

a) gets a lot of links, so it looks like payola
b) scrapes & rewrites content from original reporters, just like Huffington Post does

fark, he's a danger to his neighbors.  Really hope they get him for a felony so he can't own firearms.

Yes, I should clarify.  I don't think he should have the book thrown at him just because he makes gun owners look bad, but rather because his behavior is dangerous and likely to result in a fatality (by extension, making gun owners look bad).
