I'm OK with this as long as he does the movie in Mr. Krabs' voice.

He should have taken Andy's financial advice.

Dan Quayle to issue statement in 5... 4... 3...

Boy, I sure hope the film shows how noble the Alliance are.  Especially male night elves.  Maybe the whole movie can be nothing but male hunter night elves leveling on macros.

This is the next film Duncan Jones is making, is it not?  I can't begin to describe how disappointed it makes me that he's not doing something like "Moon" or "Source Code" again.  I guess the dude has bills to pay, or plans on doing a "one for them, one for me" type of thing.

If Ichabod's ghost wife can pop up almost every episode, then Clancy Brown's headless ghost should pop up more often on Sleepy Hollow.

If I recall, Clancy Brown was the star voice actor in the cancelled point-and-click Warcraft adventure game (well before WoW) showing the rise of Thrall, complete with him confronting a hookah-smoking Deathwing at one point.

He's welcome to bring his voice anywhere he wants, but until they say something about what the plot would be, I can't get too interested.

Came here to say this. Not the first time Mr. Clancy has done game voice over work, let alone worked with Blizzard.

Not many other familiar names on the press release.  Paula Patton, I've seen the name around, but don't think I've seen her work.

Dominic Cooper?  Mr. Howard Stark?  I have no idea who he'd play.  Though he's a tad on the short side, with a kinda high pitched voice, perhaps he could play High Tinker Mettatorque, with a fake beard.

Everyone knows there's never been a gnome in a single WoW cinematic.

I'm here to say this, Everquest > World of Warcraft. That is all you'll ever need to know.

I don't know what you kids are yapping about in here but it kinda sounds like you're talking some kind of shiat about the Kurgan so knock that shiat off.

From my understanding it's going to be more of an adaptation of Warcraft 1 then anything else. It's really a misnomer to call it a World of Warcraft movie when it's set a good 25-30 years before even the earliest events of World of Warcraft.  In fact the two main characters of the movie aren't even alive in World of Warcraft.

Overall I wouldn't expect any of the races beyond Humans and Orcs to be featured all that much since it's set in the WC1 era.   Unless they have an ambassador in Stormwind we might not see the future Alliance races at all until near the end.

Of course it says nothing in the article about Clancy Brown being cash-strapped. Silly me expecting the headlines on Fark to be at least somewhat accurate.

I've heard talk on Fark about that, but nothing official.

Clancy Brown as.. Blackhand?  Cooper as.. Gul'dan?

Little about this on IMDB, but they do have this trivia gem..

Director Uwe Boll contacted Blizzard about directing the film, but Blizzard refused. As quoted by MTV news Uwe Boll stated "I got in contact with Blizzard, and he said 'We will not sell the movie rights, not to you... especially not to you. Because it's such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income, what the company has with it."

They announced it at BlizzCon 2013 in November.  Lothar and Durotan will be the two main characters, though I'm sure Gul'dan and Blackhand will be in it as well.

Poor Clancy. It's better to burn out than to fade away.

He had his chance with actual names and/or talent (Jason Statham, Ray Liotta, Leelee Sobieski, John Rhys-Davies, Ron Perlman and farking Burt Reynolds as the King) in the Dungeon Siege movie.

It is a shiatacular waste of 127 minutes, worthy of MST3K riffing.

Aside from laughing at Burt in a medieval setting or Ray Liotta acting like Power Rangers villains, the movie sucked upon suck, like a hooker giving a beej to a Hoover vacuum in a black hole. That and Dungeon Siege is pretty mediocre material to begin with.

//holy crap, Wikipedia states Boll made two sequels to Dungeon Siege.

Why yes, he MUST be cash-strapped to want a part in a potentially lucrative film franchise. The Deadline Hollywood submitter can't submit a headline without shoving some unwarranted, half-ass attempt at snark in there.

Don't click Deadline Hollywood links. Dry up his Fark-referred clicks.

Character actors don't always take glamorous jobs, still gotta eat, this and more with Ric Romero at 11.

He's a shoe-in for Medivh.

2013-12-19 08:33:10 AM
I can't believe they're going forward with this movie. Any other movies we can make while the subject is at the height of its popularity? Maybe a Weakest Link movie?

How about a Pong movie, that was a pretty popular video game, I think everyone played it...when it was the only game. If not Pong, maybe Contra or Street Fighter?

/oh they did make several Street Fighter movies? How were those?

The animated ones are pretty good.

I'm not sure the voice is right, unless the spirit of Sargaras deepens his voice.

I was referring mostly to looks.  Voice-wise he'd be better as an Orc.

People are so sure this is going to be awful, yet everything I've seen has actually made me more hopeful for it. The fact that Blizzard has waited until they felt they had found the right director in Duncan Jones, rather than just trying to capitalize while WoW was at it's peak popularity (7mil active subs now as opposed to 12mil a few years ago), gives me some confidence. Also, the casting I've seen thus far, especially Ben Foster and Clancy Brown, has me very intrigued.

2013-12-19 08:55:51 AM
Don't know much about WoW, but I really dig Clancy Brown.  I'd go see the movie just to see him.

I was prepared to say something along the lines of, "Poor thing, 99% of the population works because they need the cash", and then saw that the article said nothing about him doing it because he needs money.

I think we should apply subby's attitude about actors to other professions.  "A cash-strapped accountant shows up for work on time."

I will watch anything that has Clancy Brown in it.  Even that POS show Earth2

Blackhand the Destroyer, or possibly Gul'dan.  I guess he's of an age to play Ner'zhul as well, but I've always pictured Ner'zhul as a somewhat angstier character than Brown usually plays.

/he won't be playing a human
//we need to get some Ron Perlman up in here- now THERE is a man born to play Gul'dan

2013-12-19 11:15:43 AM
Nice to see you again, Kurgan.

2013-12-19 11:34:22 AM
Clancy Brown was great as Kurgan, is great as Mr. Krabs, but to me he will always be Brother Justin. I still mourn the loss of Carnivale.

That is sad, WoW sucks.

Cash strapped? He's in every other cartoon I see on TV. More like "not choosy".

\oh Clancelot

Clancy Brown isn't broke. Clancy Brown is getting paid, subby.

2013-12-19 01:16:37 PM
Clancy Brown is awesome, and he elevates everything he's in. Highlander 2 would have been a much better movie had they also brought him back for whatever reason they wanted.

Gul'dan should be small and scrawny, by orc standards.  Someone who would have been left out by the other orcs as bait, if he didn't learn first shamanism, then demonic power.
