(Toronto Star)   Canada launches antitrust probe into Google search dominance. Come on, how much of a monopoly do you need on searches when every other one is "hockey", "maple syrup" or "beer"?   (thestar.com) divider line 10

Pffft, vertical integration of the media companies, Rogers and Bell, are a much bigger problem.

Subby, Canadians don't do searches for hockey. If they haven't learned the teams by the time they're old enough to type, they're not Canadian.

Yes, Canadians search for
"What is summer?"
"Those Dang Americans, why do they have to be so mean?"
"Poutine +leather +auto-erotic +asphyxiation +Toronto"

How hard is it for Google to have search dominance, when their competitors are Yahoo and Bing?

Bingo. This is one of those rare cases where the free market is working exactly the way it's supposed to.

Canada doesn't have its own search engines. Always gotta go to Big Brother U.S.A. to get content.

Very interesting to do searches via country specific(search this country's pages only). Search Canada only and what-the-f*ck-is-this-shiat?!?!?!!?

/Bhell, Rogers, Shaw still think they can control the Internet with hijacking DNS lookups and the occasional injections of content for ad revenue.
//Bell wants a TV tax to increase profits.
///PM Harper is the republicans paid servant to make sure U.S. policy overrides proper Canadian law.
////Toronto Mayor Rob Ford should be in a nuthouse, but people are so stupid that they think you can't remove a Mayor who is obviously farked up that "oh noes you have to follow the unconstitutional law that protects politicians from being ejected for obviously being nuts".

Don't forget the searches for 'Back Bacon' and 'Duct Tape'.

Subby forgot to mention that the top google.ca search is "Mayor Ford".
