That's when if the rescue responded with the engine company, you have them run over your neighbor's car with the ladder truck.

I'm surprised the police didn't taze him and drag him out of his car.

I hope his house catches fire and the neighbor blocks the firetruck from getting up the driveway.

Probably a whole lot of crazy to this story.

They should have beat the shiat out of him. There would have been multiple witnesses that say he kept falling on the ground by himself over and over again in an almost supernatural manner.

FTA: When police opened Cote's car door, be put the car into reverse and began to back up, forcing an officer to jump clear of the car, Custer said.

I thought that kind of behavior earned one an assaulting an officer charge.

Should have taken off the roof of his car with the jaws of life to get inside & get the keys.

Afterwards.

Or - just cut a path through his dining room.

Gyrfalcon: That's when if the rescue responded with the engine company, you have them run over your neighbor's car with the ladder truck.

That would seriously damage the truck.  Instead, ladder trucks come equipped with tow hooks and chains. Hook the chains under the car to the front axle and pull the car out of the way, flipping it onto its roof in the process.

"When police opened Cote's car door, be put the car into reverse and began to back up, forcing an officer to jump clear of the car, Custer said. "

In the US, they would have drawn weapons, dragged him out, and tazed and beaten him half to death.  Then arrested him for attempted vehicular murder.  They've got some restraint across the pond.

I assumed Ontario, myself, but I kept hunting around and then I noticed the "Connecticut".
I'm also kinda amazed the charges are so light. Being an old white guy doesn't usually entitle you to free shots at officers. Must be more to this story.

The sad part is that South Windsor used to be one of the better towns in Eastern CT. There are still some very nice areas but, some areas (around the mall) are pretty crappy.

The ambulance drivers I know would have just driven out anyway.

That'll buff right out.

The guys at my wife's firehouse LOVE when someone does something super retarded like this.  Around here at least, illegally blocking an emergency vehicle gives them carte blanche to move your car any way necessary. Usually they'll smash your shiat open with an axe, break open your center console, and force the vehicle into neutral so they can roll it away. Then you get towed, impounded and arrested. Good times!

2013-12-18 07:27:33 AM
I'm more putting this down to "crazy old fark" then douchebag.  A true douchebag wouldn't be willing to get arrested for that, which would be the logical conclusion for doing something that moronic.

I mean, how did that crazy asshole EXPECT that confrontation to end?  The police and EMTs just give up and leave their vehicles there?

What?

2013-12-18 07:48:27 AM
When the ambulance carrying Cote's neighbor tried to leave, police said Cote refused to move his car, which was behind the ambulance .

I bet bashing his car with the ambulance a few times might convince him to move

Gyrfalcon: That's when if the rescue responded with the engine company, you have them run over your neighbor's car with the ladder truck.

The ladder truck isn't a tank.  Instead you have the firefighters break every window, drape a chain around the supports, then drag it out of the way.  That way the drag from the locked wheels warps the frame to the point that you aren't putting glass back in the windows.

Good thing the cops in the UK don't have guns, or he would have ended up like the crazy White House barricade-running woman that the cops shot to death.

I know of attempted murder charges in a case like this. Depends on the officer and the approving county/city attorneys.

If the man in the ambulance was critically ill they should charge this asshat with attempted murder.

I suspect that they were still getting the guy sorted inside and weren't ready to leave yet.  I don't imagine the cops would wait until the ambulance had to leave NOW NOW NOW before trying to get the guy to move his car.  Hell, the EMTs might have never even noticed the whole drama unfold depending on how occupied they were in the house.

This is why Genesee county, MI has deputy paramedics.  They drive the same trucks as the rest of the sheriffs department, wear the same uniform and carry a gun, yet they are paramedics.  They cannot transport patients, however they can provide medical care.  Their main goal is to meet up with the ambulance and make sure the scene is handled right and the ambulance can get their jobs done.  One did have to pull his gun a couple years back, but they really aren't suppose to.

That says a lot about our society when such special task officers are needed on a full time basis.

In Connecticut a lot of ambulance companies are volunteers.

Seriously.  The oxford comma is one thing, but no commas at all?  Its just unreadable.
"Richard Cote yelled, and swore, and police, and EMTs; threatened to have police cars and the ambulance towed".
Much better.
--or--
"Richard Cote yelled and swore, and police and EMTs threatened to have police cars and the ambulance towed".
I'm not sure what good it would have done the police and EMTs to tow their own vehicles.  And Cote still would have needed to move his car for the tow truck to have access...

I used to talk with a lot of Dallas fire and rescue guys.  They pretty much said 1) you never had time to wait for police to secure a scene, and 2) by and large, people didn't mess too much with paramedics.  And this was for Dallas proper, which had some pretty rough neighborhoods.

From the Fb comments in TFA:

I used to live near this guy and he would purposely swerve his truck towards me as I ran down the road. He is a real A-hole and deserves every bad comment he gets!

The perp sounds like a real winner.. They should have tazed him into a coma and harvested his organs, assuming they weren't shriveled and black as coal.
