Oh goody. A third thread about this. And here I was worrying that the discussion of this non-issue would just die down.

Well if you dislike these threads so much, how about we make it a photoshop contest? His painting is missing a good few crying eagles.

Instead of a brush he should use a paint gun. Amirite?

I would rather have photoshop threads for Jon Mcnaughton prints. This is just lame and Zimmerman is still a dickbag.

Perhaps he used camera obscura techniques?

Also could have been done with camera obscura.

LOL, "blank canvas"... All he had to do was go to a place that did Giclee prints and get this done. At the least, he would have had them print the outline and then fill it in, but with the exception of brushstrokes, inkjets printed on canvas are indistinguishable from the originals. This comes from working in a print shop that did high quality reproductions directly for the artists. Some would go in and paint a little over the images afterwards to add the brush stroke texture, and then there would be no way to know.

Are you that stupid, or are you terminally unaware of who Shepard Fairey is?

As for Zimmerman, I'm not sure if his "Artwork" or shooting unarmed teenagers is his biggest crime.

He's an artist who took a stock photo, slapped some colors and letters on it, and called it art.  Even better, he tried to defend the ensuing lawsuit using the fair use doctrine.

Shepard Fairey is a street artist. His entire catalog of work is based entirely on getting stock or AP images (Usually of Andre the Giant), and placing them on prints easy to wheatpaste and stick on city walls worldwide.

If Zimmerman made a flag "Print" and was selling them, I would actually commend him. After all, I am suprised that right-wingers don't make wheatpaste prints the way left wing activists do. Pop art is effective when used in this manner.

But Zimmerman is selling this crap as a "painting", and buddy, it isn't.

Is it paint? Then it's a painting. Compared to lots of the crap that gets sold as art, such as the stuff that looks like a baby did it, this is Monet.

I know its not the fanciest, but it is what we had and I needed to put these visions onto the blank canvas as soon as possible. Your friend, GZ @therealGeorgeZ

"these visions"? "as soon as possible"?  It was a painting of a flag with an out-of-sequence part of the pledge of allegiance written on it...  did you think you were going to forget those visions if you didn't get them down quickly?

He is a bold defender of liberties. It's art with the power to change the world, like the Bat Signal, or the Nike swoosh. It calls out the best in people. It is not just a painting, it is making justice come to life. Justice shouldn't have to wait.
