(Kansas.com)   Apparently you can't say f*** on TV and keep your job in this country. Thanks, Obama   (kansas.com) divider line 49

Who hasn't had a slip of the tongue and dropped the f bomb at an inopportune time? They should have just had him apologize on air, promise to do his best to not let it happen again, then move on as usual instead of firing him. If anyone had a problem with that scenario and called in afterwards, then is an appropriate time to use the f bomb, as in telling said caller to take their self righteous indignation and go fark themselves.

"F***?" How do you even pronounce that? Is it like one of those African languages with the clicks, or one of those phlegm-churning Germanic things?

Furthermore comma, we as a society need to move past single mistake career ending things, like saying "fark" once on television. Swearing is something near everyone does, and should only be a problem if used intentionally in a professional setting, and even then, very sparingly used profanity at something incredibly unexpected is going to be very hard for anyone to watch out for. It's just how people work. Now, excessive and uncalled for profanity should probably be frowned upon, but an expletive at most once a blue moon should come with little penalty. People aren't perfect. Stop acting like they should be.

My 3 year old has started dropping f bombs this week. He dropped one today as I was parking the car. I turned around to glare at him and with a deadpan face, he told me "Mommy and Daddy say it".

Looks like I better start grooming him for FOX.

I'll never understand our obsession with foul language, particularly as so much of our media is littered with seemingly unchecked violence. Did some kid who had never heard the f-word suddenly veer down a path of crime and despair after hearing it uttered on a newscast, probably after he should have been in bed? No?

 Then who farking cares?

Meanwhile, we're all treated to images of bodies in various states of decomp during afternoon reruns of NCIS. Of course, the genitalia is blurred by lighting tricks. Can't have junior seeing a titty.

/ I hear you, but you know corporations. They don't really care about the employee, they care about IMAGE. And this guy, though tired and ready to go home, cursed when he thought the cameras were off. totally understandable, and human. Most big business will throw you to the wolves if they think that your continued employment will hurt the bottom line of cash they get to stuff in their pockets.  He should be hired by another station where he can "accidentally"  say on air, "Man, my last employer imo, was a complete douche bag."

One of my favorite talk radio show hosts accidentally said "F**k Joe the Plumber!" way back when during a news break. Guess he didn't know the news mic had that much pickup.    Oh KGO.... How you've gone down.

But you can still be fired by saying "booger" on the air. Just asm dr. Johnny Fever.

That in itself is an example of American puritanism, in the original (British, Australian, South African, New Zelandish) editions of the book Adams uses the word fark (except he doesn't say fark, because he didn't have to put up with these farking fark filters on fark).

Maybe it would be a good idea for the people in the control room to mute the microphones when the music starts.

yea, especially since the guy playing the music is the same guy in charge of the mics.....
I'd blame it on the sound guy more than the anchor.
Everyone on the tech crew knows the on air "talent" are dumb as a box of rocks....

Yes. I know. However, I think the substitution of the word 'Belgium' in this case was funnier than the original.

I'll stand up for my country for a lot of things. We no longer have a monarchy (sort of), we have freedom of speech (sort of), we have the right against illegal...ok, enough about us. What I can't defend is our puritanical stance on boobies and cursing. Of all the shiat we allow on TV, soft core nudity and and PG-13 rated language are illegal? WTF?

On the other hand, I have no love for news bunnies and talking heads, and really don't feel any sympathy for these dim-bulb anchors when they do something stupid that leads to their termination. As far as I'm concerned, that's just one down, several thousands to go.

Our news is not news anymore, and a local celebrity being fired doesn't make me weep.
