Yeah, everybody talks about intermittent explosions, and the city on fire, and crane operators dangling from blazing cranes waiting for helicopters to save them, but no one ever does anything about it.

He must have walked to the edge there, that takes balls, even if your life is on the line, i'm sure many people would just freeze up in panic and fear. Good for him, and good helicoptering work. So what film is this from?

FTFC: But seriously, who builds a large apartment complex like that out of wood? It was a disaster just waiting to happen.

I guess they were out of straw.

That's a stupid place to sit if you're operating a crane.

That helicopter better get there quick because, that fire is going to bend the steel crane.

Unless that crane is made out of chicken wire he's screwed

The fire makes it scary, yes.  But, when I see a crane operator on top of a skyscraper doing his thing, well, I could never work under those circumstances.

All he has to do is piss down from the crane - its freezes and he slides down the piss icicle.

/ your welcome

The rescue off the crane might be  True Lies, though that was a Harrier not a helicopter.

From the comments:

Why in the world does the City building code allow for a 5 storey structure to be built out of wood and not concrete. Thank God it is now rather than with full occupancy!

They are building dozens of these fire traps in our town. The developer has a serious case of the "Chirpy-Chirpy-Cheap-Cheaps"

Oh and he probably greased the palms of some city seat-warmer to get the rules waived. Developers are truly evil shiats.

Obviously with a single helicopter being called in for the rescue, this is not a Michael Bay production. If it were, you'd see a group of helicopters, with one being piloted by a Grizzled Veteran With A Haunted Past and another piloted by a Smartassed Kid With Talent But No Humility and they'd be jawing at each other even as some of the other helicopters were swatted from the sky and became Massive Fireballs With Screaming, and then the two remaining pilots, would find a way to use both the kid's talent and the veteran's experience to pull off some Pretty F*cking Amazing Sh*t With Fire And Maybe Nukes Or Some Crazy-Ass Explodey Sh*t and then they'd appreciate each other's talents with Awkward But Good-Natured Banter On The Way Back To The Airstrip.

Real estate is a slimy, vile business that makes the Mafia look like a daycare center. Probably the plans filed to the city describe an armored concrete bunker with the highest quality finish, the city then calculates a value from thin air to charge property tax, the city puts a little sticker on the plans.

Now the builder gets a permit and makes ridiculously vague floor plans and descriptions because no one from the city checks anything beyond paperwork, and prospective buyers can't check the plans filed at the city anyways.

What the builder actually builds is the lowest possible interpretation of the building codes (which were probably bought that way by the construction mafia), minus the "home buyer leeway". The home-buyer leeway is as follows: home buyers are so monetarily tapped out after the notary public or lawyer, city welcome taxes and expenses that they can't afford a lawyer to sue the builder.

New home construction warranty programs are often just a different arm of the same builder mafia in any case.

Then the insurance company comes along and says "hey wait a minute, wood burns so your premiums will be sky high".

Or in the case of "student housing" probably managed by a private company but paid for by taxpayers, multiply the evil by 15.

But what do I know.

"Bob, I need to break in here. We're getting some preliminary reports
that locals have seen what appears to be a very strange phenomenon.
They're saying that they're seeing what appears to be a tornado, but
the tornado is carrying literally hundreds of sharks.

And the sharks apparently are breathing fire. You know, like dragons."

Richmond, British Columbia, built a brand new wood residential building of 6 story's, because they changed the bylaw to allow 6 story wooden buildings from the old 4 story limit.

/It burned down one night just before being finished.
