Also under arrest is Mark Graffrath, 50, who has been arrested in two previous sting operations on prostitution.

"Not only is he a slow learner, but he was arrested on one occasion by the same exact undercover agent," said Judd.

All women are hookers, we just can't afford most of them.

FTA: "Prostitution is not a victimless crime. From the spread of disease and destruction of families to human trafficking, prosti-tution(sic) is bad for our community. "

No, but that is because you assholes make it that way. It is the world's oldest profession. Just make it legal and maybe people wouldn't have to go to dangerous, drug infested, diseased prostitutes to get off.

Detectives learned that 22 of those arrested are receiving food stamps / SNAP benefits.

This wasn't gratuitous at all.

I can afford to be at least THAT choosy.

Gotta love how government will bring in a prohibition, thereby establishing a black market, then blame the natural consequences of the black market as reasons why that prohibition is justified.

In the 1920s they'd have said gang violence is a reason to keep alcohol illegal. After all, look at all the gang violence that's involved in the alcohol trade.

"We are giving them thousands of dollars a month to either violate the law, or we are paying for them indirectly to obtain the proceeds of a prostitute," said Judd.

It certainly couldn't be that poor people are more likely to turn to prostitution to try to survive.  Everyone knows how great it is to be on food stamps.

How difficult is it to become a legal producer of porn? I know legit porn has all those legalese things about custodians of records before it, so some papers have to get filed somewhere, but if you do that and set up camera, how could they arrest you?

This. I love how they say "it's not a victimless crime" and then go on to list all the ways people are victims specifically because it's outlawed and unregulated.

It's not legal in most places to even make porn. It may work in cali, but in most of america it is still a jailable offense.

That's why hookers working bars, make johns pay after the sex with their pimp present.  They aren't exactly going to tell you up front.  It also makes it difficult for undercover officers to bust them when money isn't mentioned till after sex.

The street walkers are just dumb and have no plan.

In these stings, we're talking about women with substance abuse issues who are living out of motels.

If they had the skillset to set up a video production company, they probably wouldn't be giving blowjobs to construction workers for $20 a pop.

And didn't someone already try that premise of having a star in a porno business where they provided the girls?  And that failed about as fast as the cops could get there?

lack of warmth: ...

That's what I don't like about these.  They aren't street walkers, they are completely 'underground'.  I can kind of understand when a city has ho strolls which are definitely not good for the city or businesses, but this is completely out of sight.  It's 'what people do in their bedrooms' defined.

It's all about your basic tight-ass authoritarians wanting to outlaw any sexual practices they don't agree with (or get!) - abortion, birth control, teens 'sexting', pornography, sex toys, gay marriage....

It's nothing about 'morality' per se - but it all boils down to those in power wanting to have control over their subject's sex lives. And of course, most people love to be armchair judges for sex scandals.

This drives it underground.

These overpaid stuffed-shirt legislators and bully police that legislate and enforce everything that offends their delicate Victorian morals deserve zero respect.

Most of these big roundups seem to happen in Polk county, and the sheriff there is known to have a hard-on for the sex industry.

Your Florida pro-tip is stay the fark out of Polk county if prostitution is your thing.

We arrested a 16-year-old girl from Orlando on Saturday for prostitution.  She was driven to our undercover location (along with a 26 year old female prostitute) by a 20-year-old man. The teen is clearly a victim of sex trafficking.

Sooooooo the 16 year old is a victim of sex trafficking and you arrested her? Good plan there Chief Wiggum.
