CSB time...

I once had a cop come out because the asshole across the street was a total busy body. It was around one in the afternoon on a Sat. and I was recording with my band in the basement.

I answered the cop at the door and he explained to me that they had received a report of loud noise. I, very nicely explained to him that the sounds we were making were much quieter than a lawnmower. He said that, in the past, they had got calls about lawnmowers too. He was super nice and completely knew the whole situation was bullshiat.

He then proceeded to hang out and shoot the shiat with us for about a half hour while we were all drinking (In full view of the neighbor). Good times. He had some great stories.

So, after that, I stood still in my front yard and ran the weed eater loudly for an hour while the rest of the band laid down tracks. That neighbor was such a bastard.

MelGoesOnTour: The cop was being reasonable a'la "Hey, I got a call and this is what I've got to do" and even showed the guy the ordinance. The guy taking the video was acting like a jerk---why he asked for a ticket is insane especially after the cop wasn't planning to write one. The guy should have just done what he was asked and later did some research about it.

They were both jerks.  The cop was wrong, but not willing to admit it.  The other guy wasn't going to let the cop go away with getting him to admit he was wrong, which is stupid.  Let the cop save face and you'll all be happier.
