AJ has done everything there is to do in TNA.  His most recent run was not great but I am pretty surprised he would leave before putting someone over.  It would be good for Magnus (if he wins on Thursday) to score a clean win over AJ.

Good luck out there, Phenomenal One.  Please wrestle someone awesome at a show near me.

If you have a couple of cases of beer, maybe you could  get AJ to wrestle Greg Valentine in your back yard.

Literally.

I believe the proper term for the treatment that he'd get, as former stars Braden Walker and Marquis Cor Von received, is a "TNArial."

Not sure but I have to image that he is trying.

On Austin's podcast he said his contract is up in 1.5 years and he still has 4 years left in him.  He didnt sound like he was too committed to stay with TNA.

Kurt has one more big run left in him I hope.

If they can trust that Kurt won't die or go Full Benoit in the process, they'd sign Kurt back.  But it's iffy when he's getting a DUI biannually.

TNA has made bad decisions... well, pretty much always. Really. Take your pick. But letting go AJ STYLES, the guy who has been the face of the company since Day 1, the guy that turned down a developmental deal with WWE to work with TNA from the beginning, the man responsible for the BEST moments in your company's history, yet was constantly overlooked and underappreciated by the people in charge in favor of any and all former WWE and/or WCW superstar free agents they could get their hands on, is the SINGLE DUMBEST MOVE TNA HAS MADE.

These morons gave creative control to a practically-immobile Hulk Hogan. They brought in a Jeff Hardy in the midst of a downward spiral in drug addiction and drug dealing charges and put the f**king WORLD TITLE on him. My God, they even put the Tag Team Title on NFL screwup Adam "PacMan" Jones, who had a legal injunction filed on him by the Tennessee Titans to keep him from even touching another wrestler out of fear of him getting hurt!

And yet, through all the dumbassery TNA has done, AJ Styles stayed with them. He put up with the s**t storylines, he took the bumps everyone else was too afraid to take, and his matches were STILL the best part of any TNA show. And he still got ZERO CREDIT from the assholes in charge!

I don't know what happens to Styles from here. Wherever he goes, I hope he gets treated like the Main Eventer that he is, and whatever company he works for gets put on the map, if they're not already.

As for TNA, well... they can go f**k themselves. >:-(

I actually thought that the "no contract for AJ" angle was a work. I thought he'd enjoy a better schedule and actual pay for his indie main event guest star world tour, and then show up in the rafters of the Impact Zone in a few months. Why did they put the belt on him if they weren't sure they could resign him? Stupid TNA.

I figured it was just a symbolic gesture showing that TNA wanted to work something out with him. The guy will make some good money in the indies for a while. I see him signing with WWE eventually. He could have a good run in the midcard and maybe tagging with the likes of Punk and Bryan from time to time.

I think Melzer reported that the two sides couldn't really be further apart in terms of money. TNA just don't make any at this point. Of course, today it was reported that there are people in the company who think he already HAS signed a new deal and will turn the indy bookings into an angle.

Add Samoa Joe to the list of things TNA farked up. He couldn't have been hotter going into his feud with Kurt Angle, and should have been in the title picture at least once a year.

Joe pretty much gave up after TNA forgot about him and went straight to the Mickey D's drive thru outside the studios, yep.

Don't Punk and Styles hate each other to the point that Styles told a fan to turn his BITW shirt inside out at an autograph signing?  I thought I heard that and it was quite amusing.

Simply put, TNA think of themselves even more highly than the WWE...but the quality of their product is worse; I never thought it was possible...until they brought Hogan/Bischoff in.

I don't trust Meltzer anymore. He's the one who was convinced that Dixie was selling TNA to Billy Corgan, among many many many other stories he's written that have not come true and/or were wrong to begin with. Not to mention the story recently that Hardy was leaving TNA, as he wrestled his final match with them during the current tapings. Except, of course, that TNA is making a UK tour, and Jeff's legal troubles prevent him from going, so his "final match" was just a storyline thing.

TNA has been doing a great job of making the dirtsheet writers look stupid, over the last couple years. I think that the whole AJ Styles thing is just another example.

To me, if you believe this isn't a work by TNA, that means you ALSO have to believe Gagne's lost his touch, and considering the constant sticking himself into everything with heat and continuing the I Was Totally As Important to Wrestling As Austin and Rocky and Hogan and Flair motif, I don't think he has.

Maybe it's just preference, but I think Styles is more spots than story. And I really liked Joe's work in TNA until they just kinda forgot to keep doing something with him. The Ange feud/matches were really good, but it shouldn't have been the first thing Angle did in TNA. He should have won a feud or two, then put Joe over. Angle is bulletproof when it comes to losses, but that was Joe's first TNA loss and derailed his push.

What they should've done was the Taz/Sabu slow build that ECW nailed to 9 decimal points in time for Barely Legal.  That angle went for six months (?) and when it paid off, it paid off.

WWE was also guilty of that in the aftermath to the CM Punk "pipebomb" and the subsequent MiTB match with Cena.  Had they sat on that until the following year's Royal Rumble or just after that and brought him back out in time for WrestleMania, that would've killed.

While this is just a rumor and should be treated as such, there are some who now believe that AJ Styles has re-signed with TNA and his public statement about being a free agent yesterday was a work.

A source said: "The statement Styles issued yesterday was a work, and a blasphemous one at that."

Styles has agreed to appear at the UWE event on March 15, which is something TNA officials likely agreed to in order to continue the story that Styles is done with the company. He is also booked for eight other appearances in 2014. If this is a work, it remains to be seen if he cancels any of them or works the shows even after re-signing with TNA.

He is also booked for eight other appearances in 2014. If this is a work, it remains to be seen if he cancels any of them or works the shows even after re-signing with TNA.

Could be that is part of his deal. TNA can't pay him what he is worth, so he gets to do x number of indie shows to make up the difference.

robsul82: To me, if you believe this isn't a work by TNA, that means you ALSO have to believe Gagne's lost his touch, and considering the constant sticking himself into everything with heat and continuing the I Was Totally As Important to Wrestling As Austin and Rocky and Hogan and Flair motif, I don't think he has.

I mean, lest we forget -

If this were real, Styles would be finding himself on the business end of a Pedigree before you can say yo MTV raps.

LOL, reminds me of an utterly stupid list from BR(even for them) that named Gagne as one of the top 10 WWE champs ever.  As justification they said that WWE could not put the title on guys like Benoit because they weren't proven but somehow Aitches beating them legitimized his title reign.

Gunny Highway: EyeballKid: natural316: Sign with wwe, there was plently of room on stage last night

I believe the proper term for the treatment that he'd get, as former stars Braden Walker and Marquis Cor Von received, is a "TNArial."

Kurt will return to WWE soon I think and get an awesome deal.

Nope. Last time his contact came up, WWE had no interest whatsoever.

Rwa2play: Orgasmatron138: Besides, I liked Joe's match with Kobashi 100 times better than anything I saw with Styles.

It's too bad kidney cancer effectively ended his career but just as well.  Kobashi was a damn beast AND as good as any wrestler in the world.

/Also: BURNINNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG HAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~!

The Japanese absolutely have the best names for wrestling moves. Flying Space Tiger Drop, Miracle Ecstasy Bomb, Emerald Fusion, Emerald Frozen, Shining Wizard, etc.

We will have to see.

The truth of HHH lies somewhere between WWE's image and the pissed off fan image.

It's gruesome to say, but I think they want to keep themselves distanced in case he drops dead.

I never thought anything would top Koko B Ware's brainbuster...until I saw Kobashi use the Burning Hammer.  Mother. Of. God.

HHH:  A poor-man's Ric Flair...and I'm being generous I think.

Well he's not really a bad wrestler(I'd put him well above average for in ring work), and his character worked well enough.  Thing is I don't think he was ever great.  Bret Hart once said that HHH was a guy who should have had a lot of great matches but instead only had a lot of good ones and I think there is some truth there.  He's had some memorable ones(Jericho, Undertaker cage match) but he's also had some that were just painful to watch because you knew the outcome before it even started(Great Khali at Summerslam).  Ultimately he's real place in the wrestling history books will never be known because of how he booked himself and the backlash from it.
