+1, I was pleasantly surprised when I got around to watching it.  Still a Netflix or Redbox, not in-theatre.

/nothing these days is worth putting up with the in-theatre experience though

Give it a try. His role in django was small but great and I really can't wait for wolves on Wall Street.

/but yeah, if fark could drop the stupid immature hater attitude toward everything in Hollywood that'd be great

I don't know.  I wish I'd watched "21 Jump Street" in theatre.  Some comedies are just a lot funnier when they are a shared experience with a crowd, and everyone's laughing along - especially for the "fark you science" scene.  Yes, there's bound to be an asshole or two, but it's better than watching alone on the iPad.  Deeper movies like "TDK" or "Inception," definitely better enjoyed at home, can agree with you there.

Ahh yes sorry the IMAX is more then just a regular-ass theatre, that is worthy of some goodies for sure.

Agreed its a movie best spent with others laughing, fortunately I'm social enough that that's how I was encouraged to get around to watching it :)  Plus we can pause the damn thing to take copious beer induced urine release sessions.

IMO, what makes it one of the best comedies in the past few years is the real attention to detail they gave to the useless stuff (single vs double strap debate) and that the main ponts they basically came out and said it was rehashed nonsense.

I thought the first one looked super stupid. I was pleasantly surprised when I caught it on cable.

FrancoFile: Ocean's 11 -> Ocean's 12 was clever.  This is stupid.

Ok, that may have been the first positive reference I've ever seen to Ocean's 12.  Wow.

Seriously, I thought a 21 Jump Street reboot was the worst idea ever.  I never watched the show back in the day and had no desire to do so.

But... the new 21 is funny.  These guys make it work.  Do yourself a favor and catch it on cable, then write something.

/ But not if you think Ocean's 12 is a cinematic tour-de-force.

// And if you watch it on blu-ray, watch the deleted scenes, particularly the teacher in the storeroom.

Try watching the trailer.

At work, so I can't.

Ohh I thought you were being sarcastic.

From the trailer: "The only problem is the Koreans bought the church back. So we're moving you across the street."

And...wow, I didn't think they'd actually do it...

Yeh, but when this one makes money THEN what are they gonna do?  It's not like they could somehow justify 23Jump Street.

They go to graduate school?

scottydoesntknow: foo monkey: The first one looked stupid, but it was pretty damned funny.

Yea, this.

While I'm 99% sure it won't be as funny as the first one, I'm more than willing to give it the chance to prove me otherwise.

Also:

[25.media.tumblr.com image 460x428]

If it's even 50% as funny as the first one it'll be worth the price of admission.  It's been a long time since a movie had me giggling hysterically so many times over the course of it.

The Banana Thug: 21 Jump Street is quite possibly the funniest movie in years.  I think calling the sequel 22 Jump Street is brilliant if they are going with that "moving across the street" punchline.

I really dislike Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, so for me to lavish praises on this franchise is sort of a big deal.  A BIG DEAL.

The film Moneyball.

LeroyBourne: I'm gonna be lazer hawk-eye for Richard Grieco.  I just have a feeling he'll be the cameo in this one.

The cameos in the last one were epic.  And the best part is, the movie is so ridiculous they could come back and it'd be just as believable as anything else.

IdBeCrazyIf: scottydoesntknow: Yep, they basically took damn near every action movie trope out there and turned it on its head. It's one of the reasons I think the title works so well for this. NOTHING is sacred, not even the "21 Jump Street" title.

Best part is there is a quote from the first one where they more or less admit such

We're reviving a canceled undercover police program from the '80s and revamping it for modern times. You see the guys in charge of this stuff lack creativity and are completely out of ideas, so all they do now is recycle shiat from the past and expect us all not to notice.

This is the proper way to do a sendup.  Admit the flaws of the concept while making them amusing.

They get robot twins and go to 44 Jump Street.

Yeah, Jonah hill is pretty reliable. That goldfish pornshoes scene in 40 Year Old Virgin doesn't get stale.  But you need to watch out, if you don't wanna get Vanderbeeked.

The first one was much better than I thought it would be.  I feel that I owe it to them to see this one in theaters, matinee price at the least.

RedPhoenix122: thamike: Your reaction is the punchline of the title.  That was the joke.

Doesn't make me want to watch it.

Why did you bother coming to the thread, then. To distribute your misery to the rest of us?

FrancoFile: ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha: Why would you name a sequel like that? It's not farking clever.

Ocean's 11 -> Ocean's 12 was clever.  This is stupid.

How so? It's just a body count. Not very clever at all.
