Up next, why Benghazi is still Benghazi.  Benghazi!

2013-12-16 11:20:18 AM
Of course, it is funny to dedicate one of their flagship programs to NSA propaganda when their logo is a GODDAMN EYE WATCHING YOU!

2013-12-16 11:21:47 AM
+1 for a damn good headline, subby

2013-12-16 11:22:11 AM
60 Minutes is trying to catch up with Fox & Friends now.

2013-12-16 11:27:31 AM
60 Minutes has become a complete joke.

2013-12-16 11:42:10 AM
I liked the twitter I just saw:

60 Minutes: "Is everything cool with your spying and whatnot?"
NSA: "Oh yeah man, totally."
60 Minutes: "Sweet [exploding brofist]."

2013-12-16 11:42:16 AM
Well played, subby. I salute you.

2013-12-16 11:42:47 AM
But, I thought the lib'rullest news media to ever lib'rul a lib'rul was in the tank for Obama! Oh, is it the third Monday of the month? My bad, I forgot this week the news media is accurate and fair.

Dusk-You-n-Me: 60 Minutes has become a complete joke.

not really a recent development. read up on the Audi 5000. they practically killed the brand for years in the US based on one of their "reports".

An early contender for HOTW, or a late contender for HOTY. Nice one subs.

2013-12-16 11:44:31 AM

theorellior: 60 Minutes: "Is everything cool with your spying and whatnot?"
NSA: "Oh yeah man, totally."
60 Minutes: "Sweet [exploding brofist]."

add to that:
NSA: "if you limit our ability the terrorists will strike"
//fear is the best sales tool

2013-12-16 11:45:40 AM
Well, I watched the NSA program last night and I thought it was fascinating.

That is all.

2013-12-16 11:46:12 AM
Considering that CBS has given 3 seasons of "Person of Interest", a show about sweeping surveilence technology, I think it's safe to say their audience is quite alright with what the NSA is doing.

Yo mama so dumb, it took her 2 hours to watch it.

I be the entire thing was filmed in a mock up of real offices.

2013-12-16 11:47:44 AM
As someone with a useless degree in the subject, I can safely say that journalism is quite dead.

2013-12-16 11:47:53 AM
*golf clap* That was a clever headline. Probably HOTY because it requires a click to find out what it means... but short of that it would be a contender. Good work.

Media bends over backward to protect those in power, and we all line up to pick sides based on who they're supporting.

...

It's still "Not us."

*not* HOTY. Need to preview before adding.

At least critics can't complain that 60 Minutes is just shilling for Big Business anymore (see the recent Amazon cawk-sucking) since they've now expanded into shilling for Big Brother

There is a "context humor" category in the HOTY contest. I would expect to find it there.

2013-12-16 11:49:51 AM
I'm sure glad the NSA isn't collecting our phone things.

well, case closed, the NSA employee says they are not spying on Americans. That's some fine journalism there, lou.

2013-12-16 11:51:18 AM
60 Minutes has always been a load of BS, in a journalism course we got to watch stories that were aired and then compared to unedited footage of interviews, they always slant it to whatever angle they are going for.

2013-12-16 11:51:37 AM
That darned liberal media's at it again.

Yes, but you see Obummer is just so horrid that even the libbiest of the libs who have ever libbed a lib think he has gone too far with Benghazi. Goddam motherfarking Benghazi.  It's such a scandalous scandal that we can't even put it into coherent sentences why it's so scandalous.

So watching a TV show about spying makes me an NSA lover?  Ok...

and you spelled Surveillance wrong too.

2013-12-16 11:55:07 AM
Without having watched it, is this a "60 Minutes has seriously lost journalistic integrity" thing or a "they didn't say what I wanted so therefore 60 Minutes has seriously lost journalistic integrity" thing?

2013-12-16 11:55:24 AM
People should really stop watching TV.

It's become a totally ultra-right wing conservative propaganda source period: car ads, people who look like Fox Stepford models in general, and constant barrages of consumerist pap disguised as "news."

Why do any of you still have a TV when we have the Internet and you can watch all kinds of things that aren't tied to corporately consolidated media?

FTFA (paraphrasing) - we're not collecting everyone's email

Crazy stupid people's reaction (and author) - Ya right I won't believe that because its easier to think the government is evil and really cares about my browswer history. Please let me be important.

Reminds me of the South Park ep where Cartman really, desperately wants to be important and spied on.

You are all plebs, not worthy of even a single look into your email, deal with it.

2013-12-16 11:56:04 AM
Additionally, Miller and the show did their best to openly trash NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, biatchily noting that he was a "20-something-year-old high school dropout" who they allege cheated on the exam that allowed him to gain employment from the NSA. Yeah, well, that high school dropout sure punked all of your asses, didn't he?

O SNAPTAIN MY SNAPTAIN

Not in my two-dimensional world man.  Keep your point out of my universe.

//that was a very week joke, I'm sorry

2013-12-16 11:57:36 AM
So when they do an in-depth story about GMOs and farm practices, they'll bring in a former Monsanto employee? Or looking at the F-35 the person will be a former exec from Lockheed Martin?

Sounds legit.

2013-12-16 11:57:45 AM
If you tuned in to 60 Minutes last night, you're forgiven for confusing what traditionally has been television's most vital newsmagazine program

AHEM

/I guess they did say "traditionally"
//but I remember that whole Bush National Guard BS too

"60 Minutes" has had zero journalistic integrity for quite some time now.

the latter, sadly.

Sad because the former is probably also true, just not here. They didn't tell everyone they're being illegally spied on so clearly they've lost journalistic integrity. They're supposed to keep scaring people with falsehoods and lies.
