special20: uncleacid: Looking at the pictures I don't think they knew what E on the gas gauge means

I lent my truck to a girl last Saturday, and she brought it back past the E on the gauge. I had to pour the fuel stored for the lawn gear into it just so I could drive to the station - so at least I got the chore of emptying fuel for winter job done - but normally, I fill up a tank with 17+ gallons... this time? It took 20+ gallons to fill it up. I had NO idea my gas tank capacity was 21 gallons. Anyway... she's cute, so who cares if she's dumb as a rock.

I've learned a little bit from the kind of people who have no clue what E means.

My dad has the weird ability of being able to drive his cars to near stall and not get stranded out of gas. I have an old truck of his and no matter how low the tank gets, the low fuel light won't come on. I wonder if he burned it out.

I remember when the gas company was named "ESSO" and had a bowling team named the "ESSO Bees".  Also when they changed their name to "EXXON" and took hits as it was now the sign of the double cross (the two x's were tilted crosses and they were double crossing the public).  How many understand what the term "double cross" means?  I am so really old...so old that the Social Security and Obamacare folks sent me a notice that my warranty has run out, so old that I was in Jesus' graduating class in high school, so old that my insurance company sends me their annual calendar one month at a time...

That is a terrible place to run out of gas on in mid-December. Always keep your gas tank topped off in Wyoming. It's long stretches of nothing out there and the wind just blows forever.
