This is almost a do-or-die game for both teams, with the way their divisions are playing out.

2013-12-16 10:37:42 AM
With the Bengals' loss yesterday, Baltimore wins the AFC North if they can win out from here.  But, yay, I get to work tonight so no game for Harv!

/Stoopid need for money.

I really hope the Ravens can pull this off.

2013-12-16 11:41:31 AM
Yeah, Baltimore at this point "controls their own destiny" as they say.  As does Detroit, so, last big MNF game this year (Atlanta playing in the stinker MNF finale next week).

If Detroit loses, and then GB & Chicago can win next week, Detroit is basically screwed, as the GB/Chicago winner week 17 will win the division then.

If Baltimore loses, they stay two behind Cincy, and would need the Bengals to lose next week to win the division.   They'd also be a game behind Miami then for the 6th seed, which otherwise they have the H2H tiebreaker with Miami.

Need 27+ points (PPR league) between Reggie Bush and Megatron to make it into my FF league's championship game.  C'mooon Reggie, please don't take a sick day

Me too.

Go Bears!

Detroit needs this win if they want to control their destiny.  It's winnable but they have to STOP MAKING PENALTIES IN THE WORST POSSIBLE SITUATIONS.

Jesus, this drives me crazy.  So many winnable games yet they find a way to screw it up.  I'll give them a pass on the Eagles loss because 8 inches of snow will screw up all kinds of things (unless you are McCoy then it gives you super powers)

Thankfully Green Bay and the Bears still get to beat each other up, so that's good.

If Detroit loses this game though, and GB & Chicago win next week, doesn't matter if Detroit wins next week, GB/Chicago is the "NFC North championship game".

The decision of the NFL to push as many of the divisional matchups to the end of the year though is working out well (and having Week 17 be all divisional matchups).... they are looking at possibly 3 "Divisional Championship" games in Week 17 (Dallas/Philly, GB/Chicago, Baltimore/Cincinnati), with the outside possibility"SF/Arizona" being a Wild Card play-in game.

So, from that perspective, you have to think the NFL offices are rooting for Ravens tonight, as a Detroit win just about kills two of those 3.

You make a really good point. And if we lose you gave me a reason to blame it all on the refs, so thank you for that!

I know this is a bit off-topic, since it refers to last night's game, but:

How much does anyone think the fine will be for the Steelers' player that jacked up the Bengal's punter?

If they do fine him, hopefully they at least meet the level for the more 'serious' infraction of wearing orange shoes.

2013-12-16 03:57:00 PM
Detroit can control their own density?

Well, that explains Calvin Johnson's vertical leap.

2013-12-16 05:46:22 PM
17 points between Reggie and Calvin gets me through to the next round. I think I'm OK, but who the hell knows with this team.

As long as Pitta does not score more than 26 pts I'm in my FF finals

Don't like either team in this spot, took Ravens and the points (+6.5) but wouldn't put money on it.

That game could actually still be important.
If the Panthers beat the Saints next week, then the Saints beat the Bucs after, the Panthers-Falcons game will determine who wins the NFC South (and the likely #2 seed) and whole likely falls to #5.

Well, my furnace broke this morning, and can't get a new one until tomorrow.  12F outside, about 50 inside(go kerosene heater!).  The only thing that can salvage today is a Lions win.

Yes, I stocked up on vodka.

2013-12-16 07:35:47 PM
Just for fun they should just chuck a ball up really high for Elam to catch so Megatron could blast him so hard he explodes then he could catch the ball and his head and run for a touchdown.

I bet there are some awesome touchdown dances you can do with a football and your opponents skull as props.

I was really confused as to why Jason Elam was talking trash about Calvin Johnson.

2013-12-16 07:40:59 PM
Because of Jamaal Charles, my only fantasy hope (that no one cares about) is for Justin Tucker to score -33.1 points.

So I need him to miss 7 sub-25 yard field goals, get no FGs and no PATs.

So, Go Lions!

I'm just gonna go out on a limb here, and guess a bit.

But I'd be willing to wager his functional IQ is somewhere south of room temperature, and he's likely a 'tard even for a DB.

Again, just a guess.

What pisses me off is that I won 10 games, more than anyone else. Then I lost MJD and AP and that was it. Game over. Blah.

The Ratbirds, while a generally detestable team, beat up the Pats at home last season, and for this they will always have a special place in my heart.

On one hand, the Cat team relationship is a powerful bond. On the other, Ozzie Newsome is a giant vessel of liquid awesome that was a monster in the field AND somehow managed to become arguably the best GM in all of sports after retiring.

So, ya know, either way.

Sucks.

My wife was #1 in scoring by about 150 points (league totals around 1500, so a whole game) and she won the Sacko. She started the season 6-1, and lost 6 in a row to the #1 team that week. Missed the playoffs and lost her consolation bracket playoff game.

She's *livid*, and I fear she won't want to play FF anymore.

/she lost AP too

I want the Ravens to choke out to keep the Chargers' playoff possibilities on life support, and my BF needs Bush and Bell to crank out some fat points in fantasy football to stay in the money on our league.

I need 12 points from Nate Burleson after god damn Pittsburgh left Marvin Jones wide open in the end zone last night, taking me from a 2 point deficit to this.  Ain't gonna happen, but let's hope.

At the same time, as a Bears fan, go Ravens.
