These are the same teens that would take pictures and video of their friends raping a passed out and under-aged girl. So, no, it doesn't surprise me at all that they don't understand the consequence of politely asking for a day off.

Fixed.

FTFA: I'd like to think that they wouldn't post such things if they understood the consequences of their actions or if they knew that I'm legally responsible for reporting threats to the police and to their parents.

Well, to be fair, if they are high school football/basketball star players, then it will just be covered up for them anyway, so, all's good.

This seems to be about 40% of the response to major issues. You either get 'OMFG this is a CRISIS and the world must be PUT ON HOLD until it is dealt with' or 'Shut up, you pssy.'

Apparently - 'Interesting point, let's discuss' is just too difficult to manage these days.

Um.. they are?  You mean, not just members of the same generation where this has happened, but these teens would actually do that?  Wow, I had no idea that was so common.

What's unfortunate is that it would be nice to be able to give school administrators to power to discipline these little monsters appropriately, but what more often than not then happens is that they completely overstep their authority and end up charging first graders with sexual harassment.

Is "shiatcock" a technical term? Is there some measurable threshold of douchebaggery one must cross to reach into true "shiatcock" territory, or is it a term to describe the sphere of operation of such expressions of farkwadism?

Yeah, it's the parents in this case who have a collective stick up their ass.  Read the comments in TFA--a couple of them, and one in particular named "jzsartucci", seem to have an axe to grind w/the superintendent.  Their response isn't so much "shut up you pussy" as "OMG, why are you bothering with this when there's child abuse going on?  And why are you spending taxpayer money to be on Twitter??"  The superintendent is doing a good thing here--recognizes that these kids are acting like dumbasses online and addressing what could easily become a serious issue that they'll regret later.

This. It's almost like they need another authority figure in their lives, entrusted with living with and raising them, to determine and administer appropriate discipline.

Child protective services?

I give up, who should be responsible to discipline these kids?

Jebus.  No wonder the kids are such shiats.  Their parents are clueless morons who decide to attack every issue about the superintendent while completely missing the entire point of his letter.  Godo jorb, parents.  Your kids will be well-prepared to be able to confidently repeat phrases like "would you like fries with that?" better than any generation before them.

Which is sad for the rest of the US, seeing as how Montgomery County usually ranks as one of the best in the country, when it comes to education.

However valid that may be in general, the situation may be a little different when the perpetrators are kids you're supposed to be in charge of.

That particular person has a continual axe to grind with MCPS/Montgomery County spending as a whole. She hasn't been limited specifically to Dr Starr. You'd be pressed to read any article about the schools here without her "insight" in the comments...
