It was a little snow and ice.  I call it "winter".

When did it become surprising that the northeast gets snowstorms in winter??

I don't see anyone arguing that it is surprising.

It was the worse storm ever.  I shoveled my driveway and sidewalk Three times yesterday!!!!  That's it, all Typhoon Haiyan aid should be redirected to the real rebuilding effort, clearing this snow.

73 °F and partly cloudy here in the only state that has its own Fark tag.

Yes, we're laughing.

47 and sunny on the other side of the state in Mead.  Winter was here last week, but it looks like it took a couple of days off.

Gorgeous and warm here in Las Vegas. Thanks for asking.

Nobody cares that you're getting some snow.

2013-12-15 04:48:55 PM
Manchester, NH got put under a citywide snow emergency for yesterday (which was obvious, because we got about 14" of snowfall in total) and then again for tonight. There's no snow predicted tonight though, so my guess in that they are declaring the snow emergency just to give the plows a chance to clear all the streets without having to worry about cars parking on the street.

It's cold and snowy in New England. SURPRISE!!

Seconded!  :)

On a related note:
You know, even Fox News knows better than to use autoplay videos.  Weather Channel and its "holdings" need to wither and die.  We do not need this unnecessary commercialization and over-hyping of otherwise freely available information.  NOAA.gov ftw, that is all.

We got 5-ish inches of snow on Friday night/Saturday, and it's been cold but dull since then.  One of my dogs has been enjoying the snow immensely, and the other has not.

I ordered a computer part that was supposed to be here Friday but got delayed due to weather, so I guess that's...something?

/I assume that all of this snow is God's answer to Megyn Kelly's prayers for a white Christmas.

Eh. That wasn't a snow storm. We can that regular winter weather where I live.

Shoveled about 12 inches of extra-light and fluffy snow, then made snow angels with my daughter and came in for hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Fun was had by all.

Yeah, poorly-worded. Let me try again.

When did it become such big news that the northeast gets snowstorms in winter?

Better?

/Seattle area
//just making a joke, hope y'all are dealing with it OK

Well, since apparently we're sharing our weather updates via Fark now, it's 24°C (76°F), 94% humidity, wavering between rain and steam, and it's only 8am here. So I'm staying in the aircon as much as possible today.

/when we name weather events, they actually mean something... Cyclone Yasi, Cyclone Larry.

Um... You guys talking about "snow in Winter" don't seem to understand that it's AUTUMN.

The solstice isn't until the 21st.  It is the 16th.  Therefore it is still Autumn.

Maybe five inches of snow here, but I live in a city apartment so shoveling sidewalks and digging out cars is not my problem.

/Get scrapin', proles. I might not want to have to wear boots when I go to work tomorrow.

75F and partly cloudy here in Socal. Snow is for people who haven't realized they don't have to live in it.

2013-12-15 05:03:19 PM
It started snowing in my area (New Bedford, MA) about 2:30 in the afternoon. We got about 2-3 inches before it turned to rain overnight. By morning, the streets were a little slushy, but drivable, and the cars only had some bits of wet snow where it collected on the windshield and back window.

Overall, pretty tame (thankfully). Of course, right now, the temperature has dropped to just below freezing, so that'll make walking and driving an adventure.

Eh. I, and most of the people I know in my area, throw that calendar out when it comes to referring to Autumn or Winter. Once the snow hits the ground and begins to build up, we call it winter. We prefer to keep our memories of autumn as only slightly chilly and rainy weather while the leaves slowly turn and fall, and not associate it with cold, snow and ice.

/Why yes, we are blissfully ignorant in that respect.
//To be fair, I do try to deny it's turning into winter for as long as possible.
