Classiest city in North America.

Family-friendly and proud as always, NFL.

Uh, do what subby?

Hey, these are the same fans who threw snowballs at Santa. And as awesome as Barry is, he's no Santa. Surprised the Philly fans didn't try to throw the Lions fan over a stadium wall.

2013-12-15 09:06:40 AM
I hope they get jail time. There is no need for this at all.

2013-12-15 09:10:46 AM
Why do people do this? Wearing the jersey of the visiting team is a terrible idea anywhere, in Philly it's insane though.

Stay classy, shiat hole

Would you expect anything less from a city whose fans have been known to intentionally vomit on little girls?

2013-12-15 09:18:16 AM
This just in: each city has asshole fans. I've been accusted in Houston, Dallas, New York, and DC during football season and in Pittsburgh during hockey season.

Do these guys deserve jail time? Yes.

Is it only Philly fans who act this way? Nope.

And Christ people! The Santa thing was over 50 years ago and it wasnt even Santa. It was some skinny drunk pulled out of the crowd to play Santa.

Get some new material.

That was a New Jersey asshole who got drunk at a phillies game. No evidence that he was also an eagles fan.

Surprisingly there isn't much overlap between fans.

Been to 16 MLB stadiums, 7 NFL stadiums and 6 NHL arenas. Philly fans are the worst with redskin fans not far behind. Before my travels, I thought New York would be full of jerks. However, I was very surprised that the Yankee and Mets fans were ok and enjoyable.

/Philly can be scary before, during and after a game.

Yes, how many fans were stabbed outside the Linc in Philly? How many in Denver?

But please, let's keep perpetuating the myth that started with throwing snowballs at Santa in 68 (who, and this is left out of every f*cking national story on it, was drunk(.

Oh, you mean ONE asshole from Cherry Hill?  He's from Jersey, what do you expect.  That's why we put a toll on the bridges, but it doesn't keep everyone out.

THIS.

You can't break a lie once it's taken hold in the minds of millions.  You want to believe the crap that they sell you and reinforce with every single little instance?  Fine.  Be a dullard.

Redskins fans are just mad the visiting team has more fans.

It boils down to this.... you are told time and again by the media that Philly has the worst fans.  So you go in expecting the worst fans and you're on the lookout for it and of course you're going to find it.  You go to Cleveland or New York expecting pleasantness, you will probably find it.

Reinforcing preconceived notions is what it's all about.

Now, if someone could prove to me.... WITH STATS.... how Philly has the worst fans, I will lap that sh*t up and go home.

I went to all kinds of sporting events in philly growing up and I never saw any altercations or people throwing anything.

But like any large group of people there are jackasses.

But yeah the philly fans are the worst meme is so funny...

Right you are. I was in DC at the steeler-redskin game a few years back. It was the same night Obama got inducted in. Anyways, the skins were driving down the field and had to call a time out in the red zone because the steeler fans were too loud.

Steeler fans travel well because they don't need to travel; when the mills went belly-up and the local economy self-destructed in the '70s and '80s the yinzers spread out across the country like fungal spores.

Honestly curious as to when the Redskins fans were jerks. In my experience they/we've all been beaten into a coma of Snyder despair to have the energy to be jerks to other fans.

The only exception I can think of was nine years ago at a Redskins/Eagles game. A guy in a Chargers jersey was trying to stir shiat about Philadelphia's lack of SB rings. He had pretty much tge entire FedEx Field 400 level chanting/booing him about San Diego's lack of success.

Never got physically violent though.

That's because even Steelers fans are smart enough to want to get the fark out of Pittsburgh

A few years back my nephew went to a Chiefs/Broncos game at Arrowhead. We're from SW Missouri, but my nephews are Broncos fans seeing their mom is from Denver. He was going through the drunken tailgaters in the parking lot before the game when a couple were calling his 3 year old girl a whore for wearing a Broncos sweater. My point is, there are idiots every where you go.

Because that player might get hurt.  Then the visiting coach will scan the stands, find someone who is wearing that jersey, and put him in the game.  Why else would you wear a numbered jersey?

No. I remember a stadium full of Philly fans going wild as Michael Irving lay motionless after landing on his neck. Cheering a possible career ending, perhaps even life ending injury. So no, no new material is needed. Eagles fans will never be redeemed.

Except for Dallas, I mean. Duh.

I went to a St Louis Blues game.  The Blues were playing the Blackhawks.  It looked like a Peewee or Bantam league from Chicago there.  It was mostly dads and sons.  People were throwing shiat at the kids and yelling at them.  It was embarrassing.

On the flip side I went to a Blues Leafs game up in Toronto.  The day before the game my wife and I were walking around in in their underground mall in our Blues sweaters.  Were saying 'hi' to us, asking if were  there for the game and wishing us a great visit.  It was truly enjoyable.

Remember when the Redskins mascot had the nerve to come to Philly and got his legs and head broken in the parking lot his insolence?

I remember a story a few years back that they found a peephole in the locker room of the Eagles' cheerleaders in the old Vet.

And has anybody mentioned the fans cheering for Michael Irvin's career ending neck injury at the Vet?

I went to the Broncos/Saints game in Denver last year.  Had a blast tailgating with a group of other Who Dats.  The Denver fans around us were all cool.  We traded gumbo and king cake for ribs with the partiers around us....then it was game time. Me and my brother-in-law were cussed at, had trash thrown at us all game, and another Saints fan I was talking to was hit in the face with an aluminum beer "bottle".  And the whole time, the Broncos were kicking the shait out of the Saints.  The whole thing left a bad feeling towards Denver fans that still lingers.  Im glad the donkos are doing well this year, but I wont be sad if Manning goes all Manning in the playoffs and they bow out early.

That's actually a very reasonable response for someone that had trash thrown at them.

Notice that picture is completely devoid of context. We don't know how the thing started. The devils fan could have been a dick for all we know and was acting like one.

I've been to devils games and they were fine with me and I with them.

Same thing this year in Pitt. They were surprised how cordial a flyers fan could be. When I asked had they ever gone to a game there they said no. When two of my co workers (huge pens fans) went to philly for a game they were prepping for the apocalypse. They got back and were truly shocked that there wasnt dead penguin fans everywhere and human sacrifices.

Also at the pens flyers game I went to there was a guy there clad to the bone in pens gear heckling the shiat out of his own team and I turned to my friends who came with and said "I thought you guys didn't have those kinda of fans" and they replied "assholes are everywhere"

2013-12-15 03:39:57 PM
I know several fellow chicago Blackhawks fans who traveled to Philly during 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. Many of these people, in separate sections were repeatedly harassed (woman included) by the boorish, incorrigible Flyer fans. The nerve of fans to show up and root for the other team.

Philly fans are the absolute worst.

2013-12-15 05:36:53 PM
How about you realize that wearing visiting team gear into thousands of drunk opposing fans is a bad idea? Hmm?

Is that a difficult concept? Complaining about what happens when you wear red meat into the lions den makes you seem stupid.

Also, bringing any child under 10 to an NFL game wearing opposing team gear is lunacy.

The NFL truly brings out the lowest common denominator in fans.

Soccer is just ahead of them.

No wonder they call them both football.
