(Do You Remember)   When it comes to the best holiday television shows, nothing beats 'A Garfield Christmas Special,' or that one Bob Hope USO show when Raquel Welch sauntered onstage in front of the lonely soldiers   (doyouremember.com) divider line 9

The Garfield one is definitely up there for me, sure beats watching A Muppet Christmas Carol over and over again.

"But if you're sitting there with your wife, and Raquel Welch comes out, you're not allowed to look!  You gotta watch the whole show at the floor, looking down at your shoelaces, counting the holes in your shoes.  And on top of not being allowed to look, you get a dissertation on what is real!  Oh they KNOW what's real.  'You know, if she stands near those lights another ten minutes, everything's gonna fall!' "

When Judy Garland (high as a kite, natch) messed up the lyrics for his "The Christmas Song" and Mel Torme says, "Close!"

Nothing beats A Charlie Brown Christmas.

The special is fantastic, and the album is criminally underrated amongst Jazz albums.

Except of course for all the Jesus shiat...

The special is fantastic, and the album is criminally underrated amongst Jazz albums.

Agreed on that point.

I finally figured out why I hate it.  The trigger was seeing a cheaply made Charlie Brown Christmas tree for sale a few years back.

It's the hypocrisy that now surrounds Christmas.  On one hand I know Christians that hold up the show as really telling people what Christmas is about, then they go and buy a shiatload of crappy plastic Snoopy Christmas ornaments and indulging in the worst of the commercialism Charlie Brown was so down about.
