Two employees fighting over employee of the month?

As a former Walmart employee of the month, this story is hilarious.

Also why do all the comments mention President Obama? All in a negative and sometimes racially insensitive way at that.

Having known of someone who was employee of the month at Walmart, it is indeed a meaningless award. You get your picture on a wall, that's about it and the guy who I knew of was employee of a month through a friend was the laziest SOB the way I heard it. Like, he'd call out all the time. Almost all the time he'd call out. The only reason he wasn't fired I gather is because he was night shift, and I imagine its hard to replace those guys. Since they only get paid like a dollar extra for being night shift.

You know what, Walmart is what it is? I work There so I am getting a kick out of these replies. Honestly we pay low, but if you are capable of working and doing your job you will be promoted. Also we have crazy healthcare coverage, I have a lot of friends that don't take their insurance due to cost, well my wife and I pay 69 bucks a month total, also they match 100% of 401k, and 15% of stock... So if you can budget It is a good job. Raises come, bonuses can be up to 500 bucks a quarter (which I got two quarters in a row)and you get 10% everything except dry grocery, so you can eat fresh food and get the basics for 10% off. I like it. I have been there 10 months I should get another dollar raise, and I am supposed to start training for a salaried position soon.

All I am saying is everyone trashes us, mostly because we don't have a union, except our entire system is modeled after a union. On top of that a lot of people shop at Walmart, including a lot of people who claim they are better than it, or say they don't care about the savings they will shop somewhere else.

I'll admit there're truly principled people who refuse to shop there and succeed good for you, you live by your word. Everyone else an bite me, I have a job, as well as over 1% of employed Americans, yes we are that big. That is rant... Go on and make fun of me, but I am happy to have a job.

On the other hand since we have such a high turnover we get many people that suck, or are terribly unclassy, like people who stab people in parking lots. I am just saying that when you employ 1% of a country you will be in the news more. I feel if we weren't so big the news wouldn't flow in, I'd even argue per capita it evens out with every other average corporation.

I saw the first thing and thought, lies, lies and more lies.  I strongly disagree with the second thing underlined.  The third thing brings to light why you wrote the first part.  Wait a few years and get back to us on that.  I say that because my dad has been yanked around by walmart management with the promise of promotion for nearly 20 years.  He isn't some bumpkin retard, he has his college education and has been told he is the best employee they have seen in three different states.  If he could get a job in his chosen field, he would have left but that isn't the case and he is likely going to retire there.  Now when the long time employees will say the opposite of all you are saying, then it doesn't have to do with high turn over rate, it has to do with walmart.  Not all their high turn over rate is sucky people, it is after a few years, the smarter ones leave.  The folks that stick around like my dad, are those that are just trapped by getting older and aren't willing to start over with a new company.

/my dad will be 66 in the spring, it isn't worth him leaving now except to retire.

Bullshiat. Walmart's insurance is nothing to cheer about. It most certainly is not "crazy coverage". Sure, they match 100% of your 401k, if your contribution is only 2%. Furthermore, you could not have worked there for 10 months and already have gotten 2 quarterly bonuses. Even if you got a $500 bonus quarterly 4 times a year it's still only $2,000. Add that to your yearly salary and you are still bringing home under $20k a year. The maximum raise walmart gives for yearly reviews is $0.50. Most of your post is bullshiat.

The only good thing about Walmart is that they hire everyone. Disabled and uneducated people who are unemployable anywhere else can get a job at Walmart and find some joy in being able to be a productive member in society.

I'm glad you are happy to have a job, but there is no need to make up stuff to make the company look good. The facts are all over the place for people to see, and trying to boost their reputation isn't going to earn you anything extra from Walmart. Trust me, at the end of the day they couldn't give two shiats about what we say about them on Fark.

401k is matched up to 6% at Walmart. Stock purchase is 15 cents on the dollar and raises max out at 65 cents an hour. As for insurance they offer affordable insurance that's pretty good.
