Because humor is so confusing? Here, maybe you need an island getaway.

Generally a waste of time and way too long for what it was (though I guess that's half the joke).

/though I did think the antique sharpener at the 2:00 mark was pretty cool

"If you think it's a joke, why don't you poke yourself with your newly sharpened pencil? Or better yet, don't -- because it'll really hurt. In fact, every pencil David Rees sharpens is shipped with a signed and dated certificate authenticating that it is now a dangerous object."

I miss Get Your War On, but not the times/events that inspired it. This is ... interesting.

That was hilarious. The thing is, as an artist I generally use an exacto knife to sharpen my pencils. Those little rectangular pencil sharpeners don't let you see what you're doing, and sometimes the lead snaps off inside and makes it useless. Much better control with a knife. Many's the time someone's asked to borrow a pencil sharpener, I hand him a blade, and he looks at me like I have two heads.

On a more pedantic note, if you drop your pencil, by all means throw it away. The lead has undoubtedly shattered inside the shaft and every time you sharpen the pencil the tip will fall off when you try to use it. No big deal with a No. 2 from Staples but good pencils for drawing can be quite expensive. I prefer a 7 or 8B myself.

Ain't nobody got time to sharpen that.

Reminds me a bit of Garson Hampfield, Crossword Inker which is one of the best things on the internet.

So far I am a minute into this video, and I want to say "Aspergers?"

However, maybe it is a joke.

Ok, I watched the whole thing. That was.... kind of funny, but not that funny.

Don't worry, it wasn't that funny.

On a funny level... it reminds me of the one time a little kid got his hand stuck in an old-style elevator when the doors opened. He was pushing, palm against door, when it finally opened and sucked it right back into wall... child wailed like someone set him on fire - yeah, this video is about as funny as that was; not at all, in any way.

As silly as that video is, I've pretty much done exactly what the guy demonstrated when "pointing" my own pencils.

In drafting class, we had these sort of cup-like things with a strip of sandpaper mounted inside.  There was a lid with a hole near the edge for the pencil, and the lid rotated, abrading the graphite at just the right angle to produce a perfect point.

I know it sounds crazy, but there was something, idk, sensual? about having a single-dimensional point at the end of a perfectly conical exposed section of graphite.  You could make these insanely thin and precise lines.

This version is better paced and funnier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spMaP-_Cq_8

I crack up at the returning the shavings to the owner in a bag every time.

I had a different ending in mind. I was so hoping for a writing test at which point the lead breaks ruining his work and forcing him to start over.

I watched about 3 minutes of that. Made me want to stab myself in the eye with a sharp pencil.

It's reassuring that someone finally had the balls to make a video like this.

What was just posted is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent video were you even close to anything that could be considered "funny". Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Video is missing a pencil sharpener cozy made of knitted wool.

Mildly amusing. Not 9+ minutes that I will ever get back though amusing.

Your comment was WAY more funny than the video.

Maybe I'm just getting old but i thought the video was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.  I didn't even chuckle.
